What is A Church Near You for?
A Church Near You is a national Church of England site containing information about parish churches and the services and events that take place there. It's FREE for visitors and parishes.
It's a great help to visitors to have accurate information about the churches they might want to visit. Many parishes that have added information to A Church Near You have noticed an increase in visitor numbers.
The site helps people find out:- which parish they live in (based on the post code search, this is useful for weddings and funerals as well as general churchgoing
- their nearest church (its distance from their own location and its position on a map)
- what it is like
- what events and services are happening
- who to contact to find out more
If you are a visitor we hope you find what you are looking for on the site.
See Help for Visitors for more information.
If you represent a parish please ensure that your church pages on the site are accurate and informative.
See Help for Parishes for more information.
The pages on the site are maintained by parishes themselves so they are as accurate as possible.

About the Parish Finder
Parish Finder is a quick and easy post code search that can tell you which parish in which you live and which are your nearest churches.
Because parish boundaries can run along roads, fences and even streams it is quite possible that the church nearest you is not actually your parish church.
It's important to know which parish you live in if you want to get married in church. But it can also be helpful to know how close the churches are from your location.
How to Use
First enter your post code in the search box:
If you enter a place name instead of a post code we will provide a list of churches in that general area.
then indicate your location on the map:
The result indicates your location, the name of the parish and the locations of the nearest churches. Helpfully, the parish finder will also draw the parish boundary:
- How do we update our church's entry?
To become an editor you must be registered and logged in

Using the free Google Analytics tool you can track visitors to each of your church / venue pages in considerable detail. - Register with Google Analyics
- Create a profile for your church or churches.
- Obtain the tracking code the bit that looks like UA-1234567-1
- Log into your control panel and click modify for your church entry
- Select the "Detailed Statistics" menus item and paste the code into the box.
- Save your changes.
- For further help with using this tool please visit this page on the A Church Near You forum.
- Our parish name is wrong
The parish names come from a database sent to us by the Church Commissioners.
The best solution is for you to inform the Church Commissioners that the information relating to your parish is incorrect and they will update the information that they send to us. - Our parish boundary map is missing or wrong
The parish boundary shown for your parish is set by the parish you have selected for your church.
To change which boundary is shown:- Log into the Control Panel
- Click modify for the church or churches affected by the problem.
- Select the correct parish from the drop down list. If the correct parish is not on the list it may be because our database needs to be updated with new information following a pastoral reorganisation. We have to await updated parish and parish boundary data from the church commissioners. If this is not the case contact us for further assistance.
