Mobile Game Pick: Destroy All Color! (Golden Ruby Games)

August 30, 2012 10:00 AM | Danny Cowan

App Store newcomer Golden Ruby Games has released Destroy All Color! HD, a match-three puzzler that uses the camera on your iOS device to generate in-game puzzle pieces.

Destroy All Color! examines the image within your camera's frame and produces similarly colored shapes on the playfield. By pointing the camera at a yellow object, for instance, you can create a yellow block to destroy like-colored pieces. The game includes over 100 levels, along with an Endless mode that's bound to put your shutterbugging skills to the test.

Destroy All Color! is available as a universal app, and is priced at 99 cents.

Kickstarter Projects - Deozoa: Legends of Eden (Ignis Studios)

August 28, 2012 11:00 PM | Danny Cowan

Ignis Studios seeks funding via Kickstarter for Deozoa: Legends of Eden, a monster-catching RPG with turn-based strategic elements.

Unlike Pokemon and other monster-catching titles, Deozoa's monsters and its human characters are considered equals, and fight together in large group battles. The game includes over 100 monsters, and is planned for release for iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux, and Ouya.

Ignis has set its funding goal at $78,000, most of which will be dedicated to producing animation for the game's hundreds of characters. Backers who pledge $15 or more will receive copies of Deozoa for all supported platforms.

Mobile Game Pick: McPixel (Sos)

August 28, 2012 10:00 PM | John Polson

McPixel's got balls (I think), which is more than I can say for half of the cast of his game after he's done with them. See, when McPixel doesn't know how to solve one of the 100 point-and-click, life-or-death puzzles, he just approaches the nearest groin and goes all David Beckham on it. Maybe it's all the pressure the 20-second time limit imposes, but McPixel sure has rash behavior down to an art, which makes playing or even watching it all the better.

McPixel feels best as a mobile game, with simple touch-anywhere controls. It's also best played in crowded areas where players can have real-life targets to reenact their favorite McPixel moment. Start perfecting your "McPixel punt" today for $1.99 for iOS or Android before the price goes up. Those who still believe bigger is better can purchase it instead for Windows, Mac, or Linux.

mif2000 Announces The Franz Kafka Videogame

August 28, 2012 4:00 PM | Cassandra Khaw

kafka_2.jpgDid you say you wanted more German literature with your indie games? No? Well, you're going to get some, anyway. Dennis "mif2000" Galanin is the creator of an adorable adventure game called Hamlet which enjoyed relatively positive press. This time around, he's back with a new title. Instead of focusing on the work of the dear old bard, he has moved on to more unusual pastures. Scheduled for eventual release on the PC, Mac and iOS, the Franz Kafka Videogame will be a 'classic adventure game based on twisted Franz Kafka novels' and will feature 'original logic puzzles'.

Curious? You can find out more here.

Trailer: Granny Smith (Mediocre AB)

August 28, 2012 3:00 AM | Danny Cowan

Mediocre AB, creators of the IGMA award-winning mobile puzzler Sprinkle, will release its racing-platformer Granny Smith for iOS and Android devices later this week.

Granny Smith is a side-scrolling action game in which players pursue an apple thief through 36 levels. Despite her age, Granny Smith is surprisingly agile -- as you can see in the trailer above, she'll smash through windows and perform high-flying stunts as she surmounts physics-heavy challenges on her roller skates. The sepia-toned replays are a nice touch, too.

Granny Smith will premiere in the iTunes App Store and at Google Play on August 30th.

Radial, Dejobaan Reveal Monster Loves You For PC, iOS

August 27, 2012 10:00 AM | Danny Cowan

monsterloves_sm.jpgRadial Games and Dejobaan Games will show off their newly announced collaborative project Monster Loves You at PAX Prime this coming weekend.

Described as "part virtual pet, part adventure," Monster Loves You puts players in charge of raising an orphaned monster, shaping its development into either a benevolent creature or a human-devouring beast. The game will be playable at the adjacent Dejobaan and Radial booths, part of PAX Prime's Indie Megabooth.

Monster Loves You will be released in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Mobile Game Pick: Clones of Corpus (Outline Games)

August 27, 2012 7:30 AM | Konstantinos Dimopoulos / Gnome

Following last year's Last Stand, Outline Games have joyfully released Clones of Corpus; an enjoyable, top-down action game pitting you once again against hordes of zombies, though with some rather unique twists such as the game's film noire aesthetics, interesting setting and Resident Evil-styled move-shoot mechanics. Other than that, well, you get to shoot zombies, upgrade your weapons, repair barricades and generally do what you do in zombies games.

Clone of Corpus is available for free for both Android and iOS devices.

Bit.Trip Beat Released For Google Play

August 26, 2012 8:00 AM | Danny Cowan

Gaijin Games' colorful rhythm-action game Bit.Trip Beat is now available for Android devices via Google Play.

Bit.Trip Beat challenges players to reflect a series of rhythmic beats using a paddle on the left side of the screen. Perform well, and the visuals will become even more vibrant. Do poorly, and the game drops all music and color until you can find the beat again.

Bit.Trip Beat is also available in the ongoing Humble Bundle for Android 3, which recently added the bonus games Anomaly, Osmos, Edge, and World of Goo.

Trailer: Tengami (Nyamyam)

August 25, 2012 4:00 PM | Cassandra Khaw

Nyamyam's first title is a rather delectable-looking one. Set for eventual release on the iPad, Tengami is an upcoming adventure game that draws inspiration from traditional Japanese arts, crafts and fairy tales. The puzzles seem absolutely fascinating; you'll apparently get to, among other things, make use of the pop-up book-like setting to navigate the world. Unsurprisingly, Tengami is one of the IndieCade finalists this year.

Shoot 1UP Out Now For Windows Phone 7

August 24, 2012 11:00 PM | Danny Cowan

Mommy's Best Games' Xbox Live Indie Games shoot-'em-up Shoot 1UP has been released for Windows Phone 7. The live-action trailer above is basically a must-watch.

In Shoot 1UP, players control an entire squadron of ships at once, rather than a single craft. The formation can be narrowed to make it easier to dodge enemy bullets, or widened for a powerful beam attack. The Windows Phone 7 version includes a set of unlockable achievements, along with a new Score Tilt gameplay mode.

Shoot 1UP is priced at $2.99.
