Their very own lifeguard! Peter Facinelli keeps a close eye on his daughters as they enjoy paddle board session in Hawaii

Earlier in the holiday he was seen hopping on his own board and showing his girls how it is done but on Wednesday Peter Facinelli stayed by the shore to act as a spectator.

The Twilight star, 38, watched on as his daughters, Luca Bella,15, Lola, nine and five-year-old Fiona enjoyed a session on a paddle board together.

Peter, who split from wife and mother of his children, Jennie Garth, in March, kept a fatherly eye on the girl group who seemed to be having a great time splashing around in the water on the last day of their holiday in Hawaii.

The actor was seen strolling up and down the shore-line without a shirt on and with his mobile phone in hand.

Luca Bella, Lola and Fiona were having a great time in the water all on one board together.

And it wasn't the eldest who was left doing all the hard work, Lola decided to take control of the paddle.

While Peter didn't join in with the activity he was on happy acting as the girls personal lifeguard patrolling up and down the beach.

Last night (Thursday) Peter was back on home soil and attending the MTV VMAs in Los Angeles and stepped out solo on to the red carpet.

The actor was joined by his Twilight: Breaking Dawn co-stars including Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner to present a 90 second presentation of the upcoming film.

Peter, who plays Carlisle Cullen in the Twilight Saga, and will be seen in the forthcoming instalment Breaking Dawn: Part II, spoke about his split from Garth during a stint guest hosting 'Live with Kelly! back in April.

He said: ‘It's very painful to break up with somebody, especially after you've been together for 17 years and have kids.

‘It's even more painful when it's played out in the media and I've tried to stay quiet about it for the sake of my kids.'

Carlisle Cullen - yes. This fella - not so much, packing on the pounds.

I always thought he was kinda hot and love him in Nurse Jackie but he looks a little doughy on the beach. Jenny Garth has emerged post break-up looking a lot hotter. The girls look just like her.
