Katie Holmes finally kicks off THOSE boots in favour of a stylish look as she talks fashion, craft... but not Tom Cruise

Despite being a fashion designer, Katie Holmes has struggled with her own personal style.

But Holmes proved yesterday she can look beautiful elegant and young, despite a horrible run of fashion mishaps and grooming gaffes.

The 33-year-old looked stunning as she left a business meeting in New York.

She's just been announced as the new face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics, and this seemed to be reflected in her gorgeously made up face.

Her look was helped along by the fact that she'd finally ditched the beige ankle boots that have become so ubiquitous of late.

In their place were a lovely pair of kitten heels with a delicate nude ankle strap.

The shoes tied in with a patent doctor's style bag.

But the safest colour stopped there as 33-year-old Katie was showing off her glorious legs in tight orange jeans.

They look suspiciously like Old Navy's Rock Star jeggings, which retail at the reassuringly low $32.

Perhaps Katie is being frugal now she's setting out on her own after finalising her divorce from Tom Cruise, fifty.

She has sole custody of their daughter Suri, six, and says she is focusing on being a hands on mother.

She told WWD: 'I spray-paint shoe racks, because, why not? I think, "Oh, I'm a great mom" - and then it doesn't really pan out the way I think it's going to. But the intention's there. I've always painted and done crafts at home - I have to stay creative in every aspect [of my life]. My sister teaches art, and she gives me a lot of ideas.'

And when it comes to style, Holmes admits that takes a 'lot of guidance' from her design partner, Jeanne Yang.

The actress employed her Holmes & Yang partner as her stylist for five years before they founded their fashion line.

She said: 'She has incredible taste, and I look to her for a lot of guidance. I'll have an idea, and I'll say, 'Jeanne, is this good or is it not?' And she gives her opinion, and she's very generous.

'She comes from one way of looking at things, I come from another, and we always meet in the middle and are very appreciative of the other person.'

Katie was recently named as the new face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics, which seems to show in her immaculately made up face.

Bobbi told WWD: 'We had tea in the afternoon, and we bonded. And then it was, 'Oh, my God, you would be the perfect face for Bobbi.' We weren't looking for a celebrity, just a cool, amazing woman who would fit with our brand. And she's just ridiculously naturally beautiful.'

And not a young - Once a Happy Place , Now its cold You are so wrong and have no idea what its like living with such a controlling person. I have the same body shape as Katy - slim on top but substantial legs! I wouldn't wear my trousers as tight as she does as it only accentuates the legs more.

The whole issue with the boots was Katie wore them EVERYDAY with clothes they didn't go with. For someone who has a fashion line, picture #6 should never have happened. Short, grey, suede, Winter boots don't go with summer shorts or dresses. Ugh! Just throw them away Katie, they won't be missed. Or try Black next time.

Wow I am going to get red arrowed by the Holmes lovers, and i am not just dissing her - i just dont understand. I think she seems so fake. I really dont care either way - but i cannot bring myself to believe that someone who is 'shy' 'scared' and 'weak' could have done to the father of her child and husband of 5 years what she did to Tom. I think the speculation is exactly that - no one knows what occurred between her and Tom, but she was sneaky, rude and definitely not shy, scared or weak as she was buying a secret flat, getting a secret phone, firing Isabella Cruise and waiting for Tom to be out of the country before filing for the divorce. Those are the acts of an evil, manipulative and cunning woman. And not a young one as everyone keeps saying. She was nearly 29 when they got married, and she grew up very much in Hollywood, so she knew exactly what she was getting. She also became a Scientologist, and was very happy to let Tom be controlling when it suited her. Just dont like her.

I don't get it, people moan about these boots like it is not normal to wear the same shoes repeatedly. This just indicates to me even more so that she is a lovely celebrity who is actually down to earth. And I bet you will see her wearing them again. If you have never had a comfy pair of ankle boots that ended up being your slip on faves when going about your day... you are the abnormal one not Katie Holmes! At £325 a pop I would probably wear them to bed too!

Katie's looking really lovely now. She's got a very beautiful face, but rather unfortunate legs. However seeing as she isn't a catwalk model that's no problem. I'm very glad she did things right and managed to get out of that oppresive marriage and keep her daughter. That showed just how intelligent she really is.
