Diane von Furstenberg floods the runway with technicolour at New York Fashion Week

Diane von Furstenberg put on a dazzling display at New York Fashion Week today as she flooded the catwalk with a rainbow of colours.

Feminine gowns in shades of lime green, tangerine and crystal blue grabbed the crowd's attention as the afternoon show got underway at the Lincoln Center.

The Belgian-American designer's husband Barry Diller sat in the front row along with Oscar de la Renta and Sarah Jessica Parker, who opted for a flattering dark green mini dress.

Called Palazzo, von Furstenberg told the Associated Press that her spring / summer line is aimed at women who have 'the polish of a princess and the heart of a gypsy'.

 

Along with the house’s creative director Yvan Mispelaere she added in the notes: 'Some fairy tales end with the girl marrying the prince ... some start there.'

Retro chic: Von Furstenberg said her spring / summer line is aimed at women who have 'the polish of a princess and the heart of a gypsy'

'She put colour top of the agenda with blood red orange, yellow, terracotta and turquoise and the accessories were incredible!'

Von Furstenberg is known to take inspiration from her travels to countries including Rome, Marrakesh and India.

Some of the models were also seen wearing Google Glasses that were collecting video for a project to be released on Google-Plus and YouTube on Thursday at the end of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

According to The New York Times von Furstenberg met Google co-founder Sergey Brin at a conference this summer, and decided having the glasses in her show would be the perfect way of combining of fashion and technology.
