Caught in the act! Radio sportscaster dozes off on his live-show during Yankees - Red Sox game preview

Listening to a preview of Tuesday night's booked baseball schedule seemed a prime opportunity for radio sportscaster Mike Francesa to catch up on some shut-eye ... on-air, during his live show.

The host dozed off during 'Mike's On: Francesa on the FAN' on New York radio, as he listened to his guest, Sweeny Murti, opine in advance of the Yankees game against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Though it is a radio show, it is broadcast on the Yankees Entertainment and Sports (YES) Network and cameras captured the 58-year-old Francesa nodding off into a deep slumber until he was jolted awake, looking dazed and confused as to what was going on.

Concentrating

Concentrating? At first it appeared that the radio host was just listening pensively, as commentator Sweeny Murti discussed the Yankees match up with the Red Sox

Deeper and deeper

You're getting sleepy: As Francesa's head continued to drop, it became increasingly obvious that he was snoozing

Murti, the Yankees Beat Reporter for Sportsradio 66 WFAN in New York, was droning on about the the team's record against Boston in years past and the history lesson appeared to be snoozeworthy to Francesa.

Completely unaware that the person on the other side of the conversation was out of commission, Murti chatted animatedly about the Pinstripers.

'These late season series have always been pretty good, pretty meaningful and it’s just not the case, finally, for the first time in a long time. The only thing that you can see Mike,' Murti said, and at the mention of his name, Francesa suddenly lifted up his head to attention.

While Murti continued to speak, footage shows a nervous Francesa motioning to his producer to get an update on what was going on.

Since Murti was calling into the show, he missed the embarrassing head gestures and escaped the knowledge that his update was literally putting people to sleep.

Perhaps the veteran radio man was just getting some rest before a night packed full of games or perhaps the grueling schedule of his five-hour radio show is just getting the better of him.

Though the radio host seemed unenthusiastic about Tuesday's match-ups, expectations were high for the Yanks in their long standing rivalry against The Sox.

Boston ultimately claimed victory over New York, 4-3, for the game at Fenway Park. They'll play Boston for two more nights before the Yankees head home to take on the Tampa Bay Rays.

Also on Tuesday night, the New York Mets played the Washington Nationals - losing to the DC team 5-3.

Mike Francesa is grossly overweight and he drinks too much cola, maybe that is why he is suffering from sleep apnea and struggling to breathe.

Can anyone say sleep apnea?
