Since the trend for viral wedding footage took off, couples have been looking for ever more weird and wonderful ways to make their big day stand out.

So San Francisco newlyweds Stephani Nguyen and Jeremy Ueno came up with an inspired plan to adapt YouTube's most viewed K-pop hit of all time to make this hilarious video.

The couple pay homage to South Korean rapper Psy's wildly popular single Gangnam Style, which has surpassed 140million views since its release on July 15.

They imitate the already legendary crazy choreography in various spots across the Bay area, including a car park, bus and on the street.

Their wedding guests also feature in the impressive video, made by Lightbulb Videoography, wearing a range of wacky outfits, from feather boas to leggings and  fluorescent clothing.

Many scenes are exactly the same as those in the video made by Psy (Park Jae-Sang), including clips of guests dancing in lifts as the doors open and the groom floating in a swimming pool, just like the superstar rapper.

The bride is seen being showered with confetti while dancing in a crop-top and trousers and another scene shows the groom and ushers wearing towels in a sauna.

By the end of the video, every member of the party is dressed in their wedding-day outfits, and the reception sees all those involved dancing up to the front to the tune.

The professionally produced video concludes with a selection of amusing bloopers.

Psy's wacky dance video has already inspired several spoofs, including a group of friends reenacting the video as users of the website Chat Roulette watch - and often join in.

Another version - named Lifeguard Style and featuring 14 employees dancing and splashing around the California swimming pool where they worked - resulted in them all being fired.

'Gangnam Style' is Korean slang that refers to a luxurious lifestyle associated with the Gangnam district, an affluent and trendy area of Seoul.

The phrase is widely associated with people who are 'trendy', 'hippy' or exude 'swag'. In one interview, Psy compared Gangnam to Beverly Hills.

The song went viral through social networks and was shared and tweeted by celebrities across the world.

The Los Angeles Times has said the song was #taking over the world' and Time Magazine said it was 'hard not to watch again …and again …and again.'

This song is actually a social commentary on people's slavish devotion to consumerism and ostentatious displays of wealth. So there is irony here.

So it this going to be the new thing? Every song/video that comes out will get people doing their own version of it?? It was funny for the "Call Me Maybe" song but now ... it's getting a little old. Artists will just be coming up with weird videos/songs to get people to mock them. Cute coupe ... cute video ... but please ... no more!

The Snot Goblin , London, United Kingdom, 12/9/2012 12:31 As a Brit currently working in Korea I first heard about this song through numerous people in the UK before it became big over here, so maybe they were right to run the story no matter how bad the song is!!

Are people really that self-obsessed, bored and rich that they shoot a wedding video?
