A woman in Tulsa, Oklahoma was found alive after spending at least four days in a large freezer.

Theresa Christian is the 59-year-old black woman who was first reported missing by her relatives on Saturday and was finally found by her son on Tuesday once he gained access to her apartment and heard moaning coming from the chest-sized freezer.

There was no sign of foul play and her neighbors speculated that perhaps she got in the freezer because she feared that a tornado may hit her house.

Local station KTUL reports that she was found sitting in the freezer and being treated for portions of frostbite on her legs.

News On 6 says that while she is cold, hungry, and dehydrated, she is expected to survive.

Tulsa police corporal Daisy Vallely said that when the woman’s son entered the apartment, he ‘recognized immediately that there was no way she could have left the residence willingly without her purse and other belongings and left her TV on’.

Her physical condition is still being evaluated and police are trying to understand how she got stuck in the first place.

If she did decide to get inside the large freezer- which was big enough for one person- because of the storms, that places her entrance into the box on Friday evening when the weather was bad.

What is even more strange is that she was unable to get herself back out, since there were no locks or latches on the exterior of the freezer that could have locked her in.

‘We’re not really sure why she was not able to get out. Apparently she was trying, there was evidence of that,’ Ms Vallely said.

‘We don’t know how she got in there or anything else.

‘Thank goodness her son found her when he did.’

Something sounds suspicious here. Why would anyone get into a freezer on purpose? Even if she were hiding from a tornado, it would be logical to at least unplug the freezer. I think they will discover there was more going on.

So that I can sleep tonite; I must know "What color was the freezer???"

If she couldn't push the lid open and there were no locks on it, then something more is going on with this poor woman.

If there isn't an interior latch, it's quite simple - the vacuum pressure seal of the door can be quite difficult to break, especially for a child. Hence why it's legally mandated in many places that refrigerator disposal include door removal. Google Refrigerator Safety Act of 1956 (for US).

Thanks for clarifying the woman's race. I would have been awake all night wondering about that.

Hmmm, if she were white, maybe she would have been found sooner?? Whatever. DM, I have no idea why we all continue to visit your site repeatedly. Seriously, her race doesn't matter, and most of the time, none of you can spell or write a solid article that makes sense. My young children could write better articles and publish only the important facts.
