  • How do I get the Storia eReading app?

    To install Storia on your device, first choose a platform.

  • On what types of devices can the Storia eReading app be used?

    Currently, Storia is available for:

    • Windows PC [Windows®7, Vista®, and XP Service Pack 3]
    • iPad®
    • Android™ Tablet

  • "I want to use Storia on my PC. What are the tech requirements for downloading and reading Storia eBooks?

    To install and use Storia on a PC, your computer must meet the following system requirements:

    • Windows® 7, Vista®, or XP Service Pack 3.
    • 1024 x 768 screen resolution or higher recommended.
    • x86 or x64 1.6-gigahertz (GHz) or higher processor with 512 megabytes (MB).
    • Other free software installations (PlayReady and Silverlight) will be prompted and installed during the eReader installation.
  • What should I do if I get installation errors on a PC?

    Make sure your computer meets the following system requirements:

    • Windows® 7, Vista®, or XP Service Pack 3.
    • 1024 x 768 screen resolution or higher recommended.
    • x86 or x64 1.6-gigahertz (GHz) or higher processor with 512 megabytes (MB).
    • Other free software installations (PlayReady and Silverlight) will be prompted and installed during the eReader installation.

    Make sure you have administrator rights. If you try to install the application without having administrator rights, you will get an error message.

    Follow the steps below to check whether you have administrator rights:

    • Right-click on the "Start" button. This can usually be found in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen. If the menu that appears contains the items "Open All Users" and "Explore All Users," you have administrator rights.
    • If the menu does not contain those items, then you do not have administrator rights, and you will not be able to install the Storia eReading app. Please ask the computer's owner or its administrator to help you install Storia.

    If you are having difficulty downloading the Storia eReading App to your PC, here are some troubleshooting tips:

    1. Make sure you have a connection to the Internet before downloading the Storia eReading app.
    2. Select the correct Storia eReading app download link for Windows PC.
    3. Ensure you accept all EULAs (End User License Agreements) and install the prerequisite applications—PlayReady and Silverlight. These applications are bundled with the Storia installer for one easy installation.
    4. Check your desktop screen to see if the Storia icon has appeared. If so, double- click on the Storia icon to launch the installer.

  • I'm having problems installing Storia on my iPad®. What should I do?

    If you are having trouble installing Storia on your iPad, you should:

    Make sure you have enough free space:

    • If you have run out of space on your iPad, please uninstall unused apps, or delete some of your music or videos.
    • To find out what apps are taking up space on your iPad, select the "Settings" icon, then select "Usage."

    Enter your iTunes password when downloading from the App Store:

    • Even though the Storia eReading app is FREE, you must still input your iTunes password when downloading the app to your iPad. If you don't have your iTunes password, ask the owner or administrator of the iPad to install Storia for you.

    If you are still having problems installing Storia on your iPad, please contact Customer Service at 1-855-STORIA1 (1-855-786-7421) or storia@scholastic.com.

  • I'm having problems installing Storia on my Android tablet. What should I do?

    If you are having trouble installing Storia on your Android tablet, you should:

    Make sure you have enough free space:

    • If you have run out of space on your tablet, please uninstall unused apps, or delete some of your music or videos.
    • To find out what apps are taking up space on your tablet, select the "Settings" icon, then select "Usage."

    Enter your Android password when downloading from Google Play:

    • Even though the Storia eReading app is FREE, you must still input your Google password when downloading the app to your tablet. If you don't have your Google password, ask the owner or administrator of the tablet to install Storia for you.

  • Are Storia eBooks compatible with other e-readers?

    Storia eBooks are designed with unique learning features and enrichments that make them readable only while using the Storia eReading app.

    The Storia eReading app can be used with Windows® PC, iPad®, and Android tablets. To install Storia on your device, choose a platform.

Signing In and Using Storia

  • How do I sign in or register when I am using Storia on an iPad or Android tablet?

    To purchase and read eBooks for Storia on your iPad or Android tablet, you must sign in to the Storia eReading app with the same e-mail address and password you use for your Scholastic.com and/or Scholastic Book Clubs account(s).

    If you do not have a Scholastic account, getting one is free and easy:

    • If your child's teacher participates in Scholastic Book Clubs, click here to register.
    • Otherwise, you can register at Scholastic.com.

    If you are still having problems signing in to Storia, please contact Customer Service at 1-855-STORIA1 (1-855-786-7421) or storia@scholastic.com.

  • What should I do if I forgot the password for my account?

    At Sign In, select the "Forgot User Name or Password?" link if available, or go to Scholastic.com and look for the link there.

  • How do I link a device with my Scholastic account?

    Each time your child launches Storia on a device connected to the Internet, it syncs with your family's Scholastic account online. Any new eBooks purchased will be downloaded, and any new assigned eBooks will appear in the appropriate bookshelf, allowing your child to start reading as soon as he or she wants. When you install Storia on multiple devices, your children will be able to access their books and bookshelves from all devices.

  • How do I sync my Storia account across multiple devices?

    Each of your devices with the Storia app syncs with your account so that your children can access their eBooks and bookshelves from all devices.

    Installing Storia on multiple devices is easy! Simply go to the download page, or click on "Get Storia" at the top of this page. Then select the device you'd like to install Storia on. Soon you'll be all set to go!

    Each family can register up to five devices per account. Registering a device for Storia is easy—all you have to do is sign in to the eReading app with the e-mail and password used for your Scholastic account.

    If you reach the five-device limit and need to register another device, it's easy to de-register one of your other devices. Simply click on the "Manage Storia eBooks" tab from within your Scholastic account, or press the in-app "Parent Tools" button on the device you wish to de-register.

  • After opening a Storia eBook, why don't I see anything, even when I've completed my download?

    After you purchase your Storia eBook, it is delivered directly to your Storia account. Log in and select "Manage Storia eBooks," then click the "All Your eBooks" link on the left.

    Once you find your new Storia eBook, you can assign it to the bookshelf of your choosing.

    Method 1: Through the eReading app

    1. On the home screen (where you choose a bookshelf), select the "Parent Tools" icon.
    2. For iPad only: Tap the "Manage eBooks" button.
    3. Select the bookshelf that says "All Your eBooks."
    4. Under each eBook, use the pulldown menu to select your child's bookshelf.
    5. The next time your child uses Storia, he or she can open up the new eBook and start reading!

    OR

    Method 2: Through Your Scholastic Account Online
    *NOTE: Please first sign in to the eReading app before you manage Storia eBooks online.

    1. Click on My Account.
    2. Go to the "Manage Storia eBooks" tab on the far right.
    3. Select the bookshelf that says "All Your eBooks."
    4. Under each eBook, use the pulldown menu to select your child's bookshelf.
    5. The next time your child uses Storia, they can open up their new eBook and start reading.

  • How can I track my child's reading in Storia?

    When you click on "Manage eBooks" under "Parent Tools" in the app, or "Manage Storia eBooks" on your online Scholastic account, you'll be able to organize bookshelves, assign eBooks, change account settings, and access a child's Reading Reports.

    Reading Reports generated by Storia allow parents to see a summary of their child's reading activities, including:

    • eBooks opened in the last week, month, etc.
    • Time spent reading in the last week, month, etc.
    • The last ten words looked up in the Storia Dictionary.

    You can access Storia's Reading Reports in one of two ways:

    Method 1: Through the eReading App

    (iPad version shown)

    1. On the home screen (where you choose a bookshelf), select the "Parent Tools" icon.
    2. For iPad only: Tap the "Manage eBooks" button.
    3. Select the "Reading Reports" tab.

    OR

    Method 2: Through Your Scholastic Account Online

    (Mac version shown)

    1. Click on My Account.
    2. Go to the "Manage Storia Library" tab on the far right.
    3. Select the "Reading Reports" tab.

eBooks and Bookshelves

  • How do I purchase Storia eBooks?

    Buying Storia eBooks for your child is easy. Just click on "Get Storia" on the top of this page. Use the e-mail and password of your Scholastic account to purchase Storia eBooks. If you don't have an account, register here.

    If you are a Scholastic Book Clubs member, you can access eBooks through your available online catalogs. As always with Book Club purchases, each eBook you buy will contribute to your child's classroom.

    Once you find the book you want to purchase:

    1. Click on the eBook you want.
    2. Click the "Buy eBook" button next to the eBook.
    3. On the next pop-up layer, click the "Complete eBook Purchase" button.
    4. Assign the new eBook to a child's bookshelf, and he or she will be ready to read!

    You will be given an opportunity to charge the Storia eBook to a credit card that you have saved, or you may choose to use another credit card.

  • Are Storia eBooks identical to the printed versions?

    Storia eBooks are identical to their printed versions in every way, from typesetting to illustration. However, in addition to the built-in features of reading with Storia, such as an age-appropriate dictionary, many Storia eBooks offer highlighter and note-taking functions as well as engaging optional read-alouds.

    Enriched Storia eBooks additionally feature fun, age-appropriate learning activities and content such as:

    Language games, from
    word searches to word scrambles

    Memory and sequencing challenges

    Full-color videos and graphics

    Illustrative puzzles

    You can purchase and read an Enriched Storia eBook the same way you would buy a regular Storia eBook. Just look for the lightning bolt icon when shopping online to find an Enriched Storia eBook.

  • What are the special features of Storia eBooks?

    All Storia eBooks include an age-appropriate dictionary that instantly provides definitions using text, images, and optional read-alouds. Other standard features include:

  • Can my child use Storia if he/she has not yet learned to read?

    Yes! Storia's Read-to-Me eBooks offer engaging read-alouds complete with music and sound effects that your child can listen to while following highlighted text.

  • How do I preview purchased eBooks?

    Newly purchased eBooks can be previewed while you're managing their assignment, either at "Parent Tools" on the app or under the "Manage Storia eBooks" tab online. Your child can read the eBook by going directly to its designated bookshelf.

  • What is a Storia bookshelf?

    A bookshelf is where Storia eBooks are stored and read. At home, parents can assign bookshelves to each child in the family, while at school, teachers can organize bookshelves by genre, reading level, reading groups, or for independent readers.

    In order for a child to read a Storia eBook, he or she must first find the eBook on the bookshelf designated for it by the parent or teacher.

    Currently, ten bookshelves can be created per Storia account.

  • How do I create a bookshelf in Storia?

    There are two ways you can create bookshelves in Storia.

    Method 1: Through the eReading App

    (iPad version shown)

    1. On the home screen (where you choose a bookshelf), select the "Parent Tools" icon.
    2. For iPad only: Tap the "Manage eBooks" button.
    3. Select "Add/Delete Bookshelves."
    4. Enter the first name and birthday of your child, then click the "Add" button.

    OR

    Method 2: Through Your Scholastic Account Online
    NOTE: Please first sign in to the eReading app before you manage Storia eBooks online.

    (PC version shown)

    1. Click on My Account.
    2. Go to the "Manage Storia eBooks" tab on the far right.
    3. Select "Add/Delete Bookshelves."
    4. Enter the first name and birthday of your child, then click the "Add" button.

  • How do I assign Storia eBooks to bookshelves?

    Once you have set up bookshelves for each child, the next step is to assign the new eBook to your child's bookshelf. You can assign eBooks either through the Storia eReading app, or through your Scholastic account online.

    Method 1: Through the eReading App

    1. On the home screen (where you choose a bookshelf), select the "Parent Tools" icon.
    2. For iPad only: Tap the "Manage eBooks" button.
    3. Select the bookshelf that says "All eBooks."
    4. Under each eBook, use the pulldown menu to select your child's bookshelf.
    5. The next time your child uses Storia, he or she can open up their new eBook and start reading.

    OR

    Method 2: Through Your Scholastic Account Online
    NOTE: Please first sign in to the eReading app before you manage Storia eBooks online.

  • Can my children purchase Storia eBooks by themselves?

    While Storia is designed especially for children's reading enjoyment, parents stay in control of all eBook purchases. With Storia, you never have to worry about your child ordering eBooks without your knowledge or consent.

    A child may add Storia eBooks to his or her wish list. Parents can view the wish list:

    Method 1: Through the eReading App

    1. On the home screen (where you choose a bookshelf), select the "Parent Tools" icon.
    2. For iPad only: Tap the "Manage eBooks" button.
    3. Select the "Wish Lists and Recommendations" tab.
