Barrow have suffered a blow ahead of the start of a new UniBond League Premier Division season this weekend.

New signings Michael Rankine, fellow striker Neil Campbell and midfielder Sean Singh will all be missing for Saturday's opener at Droylsden.

Teenage striker Rankine was snapped up by new manager Lee Turnbull after the former Armthorpe Welfare player impressed in pre-season friendlies, while Campbell and Singh joined after being released by Scarborough and Scunthorpe respectively.

"Michael suffered whiplash in a car crash at the weekend while Neil has a badly bruise ankle, while Sean has tonsilitis," said Turnbull (pictured).

"It's a blow to lose all three but we have a big enough squad now to cope."
