As the lights fell, the sound of Push It by Salt N Pepa boomed out across the show space alerting guests that the party was about to start at Mark Fast’s spring/summer 2013 show today.

The disco-ready collection was modelled by British beauty Daisy Lowe, the perfect model for Fast’s signature figure-hugging knitwear.

Bra tops and micro mini dresses came in sugary sweet pastels with pops of mint and lilac throughout.

The light hues were anchored by flashes of raspberry and navy, and adorned with chunky gold jewellery, dipping necklaces, chain belts and large hoop earrings - the hip hop feel of the collection was certainly clear.

Fine fringing added drama, sweeping across the floor or dancing across legs, the clothes moving to their own rhythm just a second after the girls.

Disco-ready: The collection was inspired by 'hot Parisian nights, broken hearts and boisterous thumping beats'

Angular bleached afro wigs perched precariously on every head, as fun an addition as the Christian Louboutin shoes teamed with bright pink pop socks.

While the collection will not create as much controversy as the autumn/winter 2010 show when the Canadian-born designer's decision to include size 12 and size 14 plus-sized models left several fashion critics appalled, it does show that he knows his strengths and plays to them.

‘Hot Parisian nights, broken hearts and boisterous thumping beats’ inspired the celebratory collection and it will thrill party girl fans of Fast, who we are likely to see shimmying on the dance floor in the designs soon.

Kelly Brook, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace and singer Kate Nash were sat front row but it was pop princess Pixie Lott, with beau Oliver Cheshire in tow, who seemed most captivated by the collection.

Man of the moment: Mark Fast takes his bow as the style set applaud

23-year-old model Daisy Lowe, who is no stranger to being snapped in one of Mark’s creations on a night out, proved the perfect party girl to showcase the line.

It’s fun, flirty and will make wearers want to shake their hips late into the night.

Ahead of the show, however, it was not the designs Miss Lowe was heard worrying about - they fit her like a glove - she was concerned, instead that her lipstick was not quite right.

The clothes themselves, though, were made for dancing and we're sure the bombshell beauty can't wait to test them out.

Sorry but London Fashion Week is just awful. There are things the British do to a global standard but fashion isn't one of them. It really doesn't hold a candle to NY, Paris or Milan. - Dutch Lotte , London, United Kingdom, 18/9/2012 11:37 _______________ I totally disagree and I'd say pretty much everyone who knows anything about fashion would, too! The big four fashion capitals are London, Milan, New York City and Paris. London was ranked no 1 last year and it hasn't changed for 2012. NY, Paris and Milan simply have different styles but London has always been a huge influence in Fashion. And this goes back over 400 years. Don't judge a whole fashion industry by a handful of pictures you see in the paper! Quite an insult to the hard working fashion designers.

Daisy would never book a show if she didn't have her connections. And London Fashion Week has been dreadful this year. It's totally usurped by Milan, Paris and NYC now.
