It seems it is the same old song and dance for Steven Tyler since quitting American Idol.

For the rock singer was back in the saddle again when he teamed up with his legendary band Aerosmith to announce the release of their new album Music From Another Dimension in West Hollywood today.

The five-piece, who have been rocking in the free world since 1970, were also revealing the dates for their forthcoming Global Warming tour.

Steven seemed excited to be with his friends again rather than appearing in another season of the hit show alongside Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson.

And the 64-year-old revealed it will take some time before it is obvious whether the new judging line up of Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban is working out.

He said: 'I think it's gonna find it's sway. They have to sit next to each other and deal with each other and get their personalities to work.

'We'll see what happens. [Jennifer Lopez], I and Randy -- it worked right away.

'I knew from having lunch with Randy that I could sit next to him in front of 40 million people watching and have fun, because he's that real. And J.Lo I was enamored by.'

Meanwhile his bandmate Joe Perry, 62, strongly hinted that he was going to vote for Mitt Romney rather than Barack Obama at the forthcoming election.

The legendary axeman said: '“The bottom line is I’m a definite old school Republican and you can put that in there.

'I was one of the few people that came out for McCain and got a lot of s*** for it.

'There’s an awful lot of people out there in L.A. that were jumping up and down for Obama that aren’t right now. It’s just what it is.''

Just loved Steven on American Idol. He was honest but very funny with it, and I couldn't wait to tune in. He obviously doesn't take life too seriously and he came across really well. I for one will miss him. I seriously do not believe this years lineup will be as entertaining with two divas on the show!

Some bands are ageless, the Stones top the list, but Areosmith is a close second.

Oh dear, what's that in your right nostril (3rd last pic) and why does the other nostril look so strange?

I love Aerosmith and Steven Tyler but aren't they looking like a bunch of middle aged women. Tyler's wearing a blouse! I think they'd be hot in a sharp suit and a natural hair colour.

These guys are not aging very well.- Frank , Detroit - Michigan - USA, 19/9/2012 11:11===================== Obviously - no rock band member has aged well. When you think about how they misspent their youth on drink, drugs and partying, just how smooth and wrinkle-free did you expect them to be in their 60's now? Dumb-nut.

I saw them over the summer and met the band with my husband. They are an iconic rock band. Music and show were incredible!! My all time favorite rock band! I was able to cross off one of my items on my bucket list. The tickets were incrediably expensive but IT WAS WORTH EVERY DOLLAR of it!
