  1. What is KUS-SHDM?
    KUS-SHDM is a software for designing the hull of the sailing boat, esspecially race sailing boat, based on the unique SWL method. With KUS-SHDM you can do the hull synthezis and the hull analyzis, respectively the results of stability and hydrostatics calculation. on the top  
  2. When and why use the KUS-SHDM application?
    KUS-SHDM should be comprehended as developmental tool for designing the sailing boat hull at the beginning of the hull design, because of his contributing the hull with symmetrical water lines in conditions of the different heel angle. If a designer wants to have a such shape of the hull, he will certainly use the KUS-SHDM application because all of the other software has no that understanding built in. on the top

  4. What are prerequisites for using the KUS-SHDM application?
    The prerequisite condition for installating and working with the KUS-SHDM application is properly installated AutoCAD2000 or newer one. on the top  
  5. Why the KUS-SHDM application runs inside AutoCAD ?
    First of all KUS-SHDM is concentrated to his most important task, that is a hull design, hydrostatics and stability, using AutoCAD, as de-facto CAD standard, and its established functionalities.

    AutoCAD has also a good programming interfaces for making applications such as VisualLISP, Visual Basic for Applications, that give to the programmer a broad spectrum of the functions, number of different export-import file format.

  6. What is the uniqueness of the SWL method ?
    The SWL method is based on the specific mathematical model that automatically design the hull of the sailing yachts that has symmetrical water lines in conditions of the different hull inclinations.
    The SWL method is developed with intention to get a particular shape of the hull that will have the smallest form resistance in the sailing conditions. The accent of the method is put on the water line, in other words the curve of the hull where the water and the air come into contact.

  7. What can I do with demo of KUS-SHDM ?
    Demo version gives user the idea of the application and what tasks and in which way it works off. The result of the application is shown on the display but it can not be used in further process of the designing. Demo version works as the infinity loop. Ending the KUS-SHDM application, the most of relevant output data will be lost but still stay behind the wireframe of the hull. on the top  
  8. What are the symmetrical water lines and what do they mean?
    The water lines are obtained by intresecting the hull and the planes parallel with the water plane. If the hull has zero the heel angle, the water lines are symmetrical. In most cases when the hull heeling water lines are reshaped and become asymmetrical.
    The symmetrical water lines mean that the water lines have the same, or very similar shape on the left and right side of the hull when he is inclinated. on the top  
  9. Why the symmetrical water lines is prefered ?
    The main superiority of the KUS-SHDM application is SWL method generating a such hull that has the symmetrical water lines in conditions of the different heel angles, as it is up-wind sailing. This is one of the basic hypothesis of the reduced bare-hull resistance. on the top
