Well all you DM readers just look at them gals and compare them to what lives in Appalachia and ye'll see right away there's no difference a'tall. They are all kissing cousin kin to each other. So next time DM tries to make amareekin rednecks appear rather hokey ya now know the source, right here in ole blighty. In fact their amareekin distant cousins have a slight advantage in that they can handle being outdoors with a lot less on in even chillier weather.

My life without arms: Woman's extraordinary video blog reveals how she eats with chopsticks, puts on a bra and even drives a car - using just her feet

There are places I have been where folks like her are not allowed to be seen out and about. I was truly shocked to see how german authorities build huge campus like places out in the middle of a forest to house folks like her. I recall a place called Aglasterhausen off the Neckar River between Heidelberg and Heilbronn. There's 100's of folks with Down's and similar circumstances who once they arrive, never leave for the rest of their life. They are allowed to go for escorted walks in the forest, have a picnic lunch in an isolated meadow, etc, but are never taken into any of the local towns. Its extremely difficult for a family in Germany to have these kids at home. If a child has difficulty keeping up in school they end up in special ed, protected workshops for the rest of their life. Young girls who have illegit babies are sent to temporary foster homes 'til a placement for their kid can be arranged. Its not that easy to be a single mother under age 16 in Germany.

Man with $137 traffic ticket pays with 137 origami pigs in two Dunkin' Donut boxes

Its probably impossible to fashion a dollar bill to simulate an a- - h- - e. The pig is less vulgar, yes? It seems folks in the UK are not as creative going by what I have seen here on DM.

The UK map of 'transport poverty'

Comments (41)

Its a shame folks in the UK only see things thru UK'y glasses. Come to Scandinavia to see how folks deal with even more sporadic transport networks, yet are able to survive. Sweden, for instance, has its population spread out over an area far larger than UK yet even without easy access to a local bus net, or train net folks get creative. There are folks here who pool resources, buy a van which holds 9, pre-arrange use of that van for an entire day. Kids get dropped off-picked up at day care or school, parents get to work + home again, others in the car pool get to health care appointments, shopping runs are planned in as well. Why have 15 separate vehicles to maintain and pay taxes on?I have yet to read a single comment from a UK'y commenter on practicality of shared usage. Its all...me-me-me. f- -k everybody else, let them solve their own problems. I encountered this extremely self-centered trait in UK in the 60's and it hasn't changed 1 iota ... how come?

Which? calls for 'portable' account details that stay they same when you switch banks

Comments (16)

Man-o-man, I see so many no-brainer comments here I'd exceed the 1,000 space limit before I can make a comment. In the U.S this anomaly's solved in 1913 with passage of Fed Reserve and intro of a soc sec nr for life. The 10 digit system in U.S accommodates 9 billion individuals. One can't do anything in U.S without their own unique nr for life. Switch bank?, no big deal, they all have automagic pay out plans to make utility payments, insurance payments, rent, etc. I assume there will be a soc sec nr in the works for the UK. Its in the greater interest of the EU for all countries to have a common trackable system like the U.S already has. In East Germany this soc sec nr system was patterned after the Swedish model which is a variant of the U.S model. Strangely 'nuff East Germany went with 12 digits, whereas Sweden uses 10.

North Sea is slowly rising due to land in Scandinavia slowly rising as a result of being compressed by last ice age. Go to Gulf of Finland to see how the Finnish coastline has expanded. There are 1,000's of rocky outcroppings which also rose a bit, but the water line on them went back to where it was when water level of Gulf of Finland pressed this water out into the Baltic Sea which is surrounded by rising land being submerged as the sea bottom rise causes an increase to the water level. I can imagine this 1-2 millimeter a year, perhaps more, rise to eventually wreak havoc on low lying costal areas of UK facing the North Sea. If erosion is present now, imagine what it will be in 50 years. Just a 1 centimeter rise of an entire body of water affected by tidal factors will do. All around Scandinavia this erosion damage is noticeable after severe storms. Those enormous waves that pound sea walls around the UK in stormy weather is what I refer to.

It takes money to make money 'cuz Inland Revenue is a silent partner in the background. I seriously doubt he makes a profit if he has that much staff to support. Their wages are also taxed by Inland Revenue, so its not like any money coming in there stays there. And then there is the local Council which demands its cut, so as ye olde saying goes, ya can't live off the scenery. IMHO this guy is desperate to get out and wants to unload the whole lot in 1 go.

The press conveniently forgets why WTC's pulled in 1st place. Those towers were death traps full of asbestos particles. Entire structure has no open windows. All ventilation's done internally. Lucky Larry paid for all of the WTC towers for pennies on the dollar, given 2 billion in insurance payouts. Dubya's bro Marvin was head of WTC security. His security teams accompanied teams of 'inspectors' to assess extent of asbestos problem. These 'inspectors spent a year going over nearly every inch of WTC, prior to 9/11 according to websites like Alex Jones. Fantastic timing, yes? Doubters ask, how'd anybody be able to plant so many cutter chargers. Its a lot easier'n y'awl can imagine. That place's wide open 24/7. There's many maintenance firms, cleaning, electrical, plumbing, elevators, escalators, etc that went about their chores 24/7 and never a scandal the entire time WTC was open for biz. Clouds of dust ya see from collapsing towers is asbestos, which don't burn.

David Haye hits out at Vitali Klitschko's latest heavyweight title defence

Comments (72)

I predict a 2 hit fight. Vitali hits him first, then Haye hits the canvas... next ... yawn ... what nobody left to fight, well guess its time to fight for a seat in Parliament. To me that's the nastiest type of in-fighting imaginable

The price of fame: Tulisa tells X Factor wannabes to drop third band member as he demands 33% of all future earnings

I had no idea they are so hard up to find acts to later on toss away. The girl Charlie has stage personality and with lots of help in finding suitable songs to match her limited vocal range she can carry on. The other 2 guys just don't have what it takes to make rap work. I thought the panel were given a preview of this group 'cuz their body language is a dead give away. The so-called drama moment of making 1 dude take a hike seems to have been pre-planned. The overall harmony was not bad, but then again it wasn't that good either. Mediocre is the best I can come up with. Where I attend Church on Sunday morning I hear singing that is absolutely world class. Its a shame this small choir will not be able to go up on stage to demo just how good they are.
