Group Council Meeting minutes
St. Eleanor’s Lion’s Centre
November 20, 2011 8 pm
Present: Gerald Giroux, Stewart Arkwell, Seaward Bouchie, Leigh Dyment, Jordan MacLean – Venturer, Morgan MacLean – Scout, Mary MacLean
Financial report was presented by Stewart
o At this time, we are behind $2000 on registration
o There’s $6000 in popcorn money to be turned in
o St. Eleanor’s Lions Club will put in $500 for Leader’s uniforms. (Stewart will look into this)
o Stewart is stepping down as Treasurer – At this time Stewart will help Seaward take over the finances but there does need to be two different people for Registration and Treasurer.
Fundraising
o Gerald would like to do another Trivia Night but this time will pre-sell ticket
o Bill Schurman is open to working with Scouts to donate proceed from a Storm game to Summerside Scouts. (Gerald will follow up)
o Wreath orders are due Wednesday November 23, 2011 to be delivered December 1, 2011. We will make $5 per wreath.
Buddy Program
o Program is ending in February
o For every friend invited to meeting, the Scout (Cub, Beaver or Venturer ) will receive 5 Scout dollars for their account. Then if they sign up, they get 5 more Scout dollars.
o Suggested date would be January 11, 2012.
Other items discussed:
o Thane suggested we put a proposal to the Summerside Rotary to repair/replace bird feeders in Rotary Park.
o Leigh will be leaving as a Cub Leader sometime between February and April. He is moving to Australia with his work – he will be missed!
o There is a camp coming up on December 2 and 3 at Camp Riverdale.
o First Aid training is needed for leaders. Gerald will e-mail Darlene to check to see if there is a charge for First Aid
o Jordan would like to look into Open Water Diving course for Venturers. There is an agreement between the organization and Scouting as long as the course is offered through a qualified trainer.
o Gerald also mentioned that it is okay for Venturers to have a meeting without a leader present.
