There were some innovative ideas in the realm of multiplayer RTS (World in Conflict) and interface (Supreme Commander) but Portal's demonstration of how 3D spaces can be utilized to create unique and interesting logic and physics puzzles were nothing short of inspiring. A nod has to be given to the team's DigiPen student project Narbacular Drop for the basic idea, but this fleshed it out beautifully.
