USAF Heritage TourDon't have a Ph.D in history? Not a problem! All you need is lots of enthusiasm and a little time.

VISITOR SERVICE POSITIONS

Visitor service positions are available seven days a week. Volunteers work four-hour shifts during daytime hours.

Exhibit Gallery Monitor
Volunteers host museum visitors inside the aircraft galleries and provide artifact/general museum information, surveillance and safety for museum visitors. No experience required.

Exhibit Building Monitor
Volunteers operate the two detached World War II buildings, an 8th Air Force Control Tower and Nissen Hut, that replicate work and leisure lifestyle activities during WWII. No experience required.

Art Gallery Monitor
Volunteers monitor the small art gallery, provide surveillance for the collection pieces and provide exhibit information. No experience required.

Receptionist
Lobby Desk
volunteers provide museum operational, event and local information to visitors and registered youth groups and answer incoming telephone call. Extensive museum knowledge required.

Registration Desk volunteers register visitors for a bus trip to the Presidential and Research & Development Galleries. No experience required.

Friends' Membership Desk volunteers promote the sale/renewal of memberships. No experience required.

IMAX Theatre volunteers answer phones, take tickets and host guests (seasonal). No experience required.

Computer & Administrative Assistant
Volunteers perform data entry and general clerical skills, such as filing and large volume mailings. Specific computer or general office experience preferred.

Education Program Assistant
Volunteers provide assistance for in-house education programs and activities, such as Home School Day, Family Day, Space Day, Storytime and special workshops. Specialized knowledge is not required.

Tour Guide
Tour guides perform daily USAF Heritage Tours, weekly Behind the Scenes Tours, Holocaust and special scheduled tours. Museum volunteer experience and extensive Air Force/artifact knowledge required.

TECHNICAL POSITIONS

Technical positions are available during daytime hours on weekdays only. Volunteers make a one day per week commitment. You must possess specialized career skills, technical knowledge and shop experience to obtain a technical assignment.

Restoration Shop Technician
Volunteer tool and die makers, machinists, fabricators, sheet metal specialists, aircraft mechanics and upholsterers assist the Restoration Division staff one day each week. Specialized skills required.

Research Division Volunteer
Volunteer researchers with extensive knowledge of military and aviation history re-house archival materials and inventory collection pieces. Cataloging/archival/research experience preferred.
