Lepistö is the first Finnish single skater to win the title at an ISU Championship when she became European Champion in 2009. She is also the first Finnish single skater to take a medal at the World Championships, bronze in 2010. Lepistö started skating as a four-year-old as her elder sister Kaisa was skating. She missed the 2010/11 season recovering from injury.
