Theatre review: The Matchmaker; Brunton Theatre
THERE are a few things that could be described as quintessentially Irish: Guinness, shamrocks, the Blarney Stone, the colour green. Splinters Productions’ adaptation of JB Keane’s Letters of a Matchmaker could probably shoot for that list.
Karen Koren: Kath brings home the beef at charity gig
My lovely daughter-in-law Susan arranged a fabulous Ladies Late Summer High Tea on Sunday at Garvock House Hotel in Dunfermline. Kath Mainlan, chief executive of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, was the speaker and what a good job she did.

MARTIN Bowman and Bill Findlay’s translation conveys the political weight of this play – which was written in Québécois at a time where standard French was the norm for theatre – by translating it into Scots.
Review: I Dreamed a Dream, Festival Theatre
It’s Susan Boyle’s vulnerability that captures people. The face may not quite fit the voice but the genuine feeling and expression in that voice resonates with people all over the globe.
