That's awful. I would feel the same way and not sure I could be as calm. Hang in there and write to 'us' as much as you need to.

Clarifying: so you SAH and DH works, thus you watch the kids when they are with you while nanny watches them pt when they are with DH?

I freelance so I have time to pick up from school quite often. When I can't the nanny does it. Basically they would normally see me 3 or 4 times a week after school if it wasn't my week.

op: and yes nanny watches them when they are with DH most of the time unless he can get out early. Like this week W,Thursday I can pick up and DH is telling me he wants me to stay away and not see them till pick up on Thursday. I'm fucking losing it.

I am so sorry. The only thing I can say, which is both negative and positive, is that DH immediately ceded all interim custody to me with no qualifications as to visitation or anything. He doesn't really want the kids. And no, a nanny is not a better choice to watch your kids which is why I avoided the whole split in the first place until it exploded in my face and I felt there was no choice. Yes, you have to stay calm. !! I am so sorry. This sucks for all of us.

True- We prefer public school, but we also prefer neighborhood school, hence the dilemma. Having a great zoned gen-ed would be our top choice, but we can't move. Our ds is a very gentle and well-behaved kid. He is very independent and creative, and can spend lots of time on his own making something/drawing/building/puzzling/looking through books. Not too athletic, pretty quiet but does have a good vocabulary once he opens up.

It could be true. I don't think it's a fake. I guess the question is why are you on UB? She may be post-partum. Even if not PPD she is going through a tremendous hormonal surge and sleep deprivation. Just hang in there. It took me about 6 months. Congratulations.

That's BS. I'm going to say something, but want to be respectful of what she's going through. 2 months in now - the baby blues should be over, right? I don't know what you ladies feel like. Maybe I am doing things wrong and being too focused on work. (She was a machine at work and will likely be again when she goes back). I really don't know. Looking for objective input from the UB board. I don't think that's so retarded.

give her a chance- i found myself being very resentful of dh even though he is incredibly hands on and helpful. the reason why is after being stuck home all day with babies, i would be jealous of the adult time my dh had, and the simple alone time he has all day with no one poking and prodding and needing him constantly. it is draining, and i would snap at dh in the evenings, but once he said something and i thought about it i realized what was going on and have found other ways to channel the stress of dealing with babies. just remind her you are on her side, you guys are a team, and that you love her. honesty is the best policy, so if you think she is resentful, ask her!

I responded below. Try to step in more often if the baby needs a change or something before she can get up to do it just actively step up and say you will do it and take the baby. But also tell her that she is going to have a few hours in the evening or on a weekend or both - you are going to take care of baby - she can shower, sleep, read, call a friend whatever (on a weekend, can go out for pedicure, nap, as she sees fit) and she is NOT RESPONSIBLE for the baby - you have it covered. Like actually STOP her from being a martyr and going to baby every time. She must learn to let you care for the baby and I think she needs to to TELL her that she has to take time for herself, not just offer which she can turn down.

Wow. I kind of think this must be fake. In any case, I have no idea what it's like to have a DH that did one of these things besides the job, but she might feel like you haven't asked how's she's doing...if she's breastfeeding if she needs water...if she needs a minute to use the bathroom..if she wants to take a shower. Did she have an episiotomy? Maybe she would kill for a bath?

I would do 2 things if I were you. 1) Some night tell her to pump or feed formula and you will get up with the feedings. DH did this to me when DD was about a month old. He was like "You are walking around like an old person, shuffling, you seem like you have no energy for anything, you are going to sleep tonight; I insist because I can't take you this way anymore." Even though I was on leave and could nap I guess the constantly interrupted sleep was getting to me. BUT it has the double effect of serving as my wake-up call that I needed to act a bit better. So 2) Tell her how she is acting and that it needs to change.

You're not being an asshole, but I wouldn't say 'I'm doing way more than my dad did and much more than most of my buddies.' They don't matter - you do, your wife does. She is overwhelmed, and likely feeling a huge loss of herself due to the new baby. Men don't feel this because they don't lose blood, breath, body, etc. as directly as women do. Hang in there. Tell her you would appreciate it if she could be less resentful to you, but that you love and miss her. And please don't say "I'm doing more than my dad, buddies, ..."

adjusting to living for herself and you to doing everything all day with db is probably wearing on her. i know you are helpful, and that is great, and i promise she is grateful, but she is probably just a little sad and resentful that you get to leave and have a "break". i know work is work, but sometimes after a long day of baby duty even work can sound like a vacation. i am sure she is appreciative of you and not even realizing how horrible she is being, just talk to her

well i am a mom of twins and that is great you are so positive. i sah as well and would not say everyday is a joy. some are amazing, but some are down right unbearable. i do not have perfect sleepers though, so getting up a couple times a night, or having one twin wake the other can lead to major sleep deprivation which can lead to it NOT being a joy.

He's a guy hope he's not carrying a chain bag. Just because it's in doesn't mean people should wear them. I actually won't wear the things that are 'in' when they're in. For instance won't be wearing an oxblood peplum any time soon.

What's your take home AFTER maxing out retirement accounts and saving for emergency/ vacation/ holidays/ gifts & college? Subtract your 2k from that, then subtract your insurance, phones, utilities, gym, food, dry cleaning, laundry. How much do you have left? That's what you can afford for mortgage, taxes, maintenance, and homeowners combined. You'll get a tax benefit from the interest and property taxes - but most people grossly overestimate what they can afford. How much do you have for downpayment + moving + closing costs?

(c) and I'm jealous if you're not! 12 weeks with #2 and I look like a bloated whale. But everyone is different. If you're taller you show less.

OR - yeah, as I recall you don't look pregnant for a while, just fat. Don't worry. It's a long pregnancy. By month 7 you'll be nostalgic for the days when you only looked a little fat.

I am tall 6' and 7 weeks w #2. My lower abdomen is starting to protrude even though I have not gained any weight. It's so different from #1, where people were surprised when I told them at 16 weeks. Not happening this time.

Is there anything the US can learn from these countries or can the lower tax rate be explained by the fact that neither Switzerland nor Monaco spend money on defense (or offense as in the case of Iraq)?

All but Japan (which is reevaluating) have a lower corporate tax rate than the US.

Switzerland is the only big one that has an average rate of 20% vs. US at 27%. Canada and Australia have rates slightly higher than the US, but similar. Most 1st world nations have higher tax rates.

Depends on which side of the wealth divide you fall. Hong Kong has a 16% flat tax (though permitted exemptions bring it to @14%) but he greatest income disparity in the developed world. We lived there as expats and had a very high standard of living. Wouldn't want to have been part of the true middle class thwre

OP: of course this is superficial! Just sick of hearing about "will my amazing child get into the g&t program?" and "what is your hhi?" and "can we live on less than a million a year in Manhattan?" posts!

I don't know if hip is a good measure for a cocktail, but good single malt, neat or on on the rocks never go out of style. For tastiest, I prefer Laphroig w/Glenlivet as a fallback. Both are warm, buttery and loamy.

Ladies over 30 are best to drink wine. Unless you're at a dive bar. Cocktails are for home.
