The MCA is a professional organization that advances the position and education of classical music critics in the United States and Canada.
The world premiere is also attracting more than three dozen other critics from the United States, Great Britain and Europe. Writers from most major U.S. newspapers and magazines will be joined by colleagues from the Guardian and the Observer of London, Le Monde in Paris and papers in the Netherlands, Belgium, West Germany and Russia.
The MCA meets annually in a major North American city in conjunction with important musical activities. Recent meetings have centered on such events as the premiere of the San Francisco Opera production of Wagner's "Ring" cycle and the annual summer schedule of operas at the Santa Fe Opera.
