IAF slams HAL, bats for private sector
Ajai Shukla / New Delhi Nov 20, 2009, 00:24

The indian government can do a lot of developments just by policy changes. They dont need to spend one rupee, but we still see so much of lagardness by their side. I supply support Air Marshall Pranab Kumar's views.

In its several decades of existence, HAL has been able to master nothing more than screw-driver technology, which is putting together planes from CKD kits. Their so called big success, the LCA, will be nearly 2 decades behind schedule and obsolete when it enters service. The ALH, the only demonstrated success so far, was also behind schedule. It is high time we privatized HAL (and NAL too).

Shabash! At long last, we have someone in a responsible position cutting through the hypocrisy and calling a spade a spade. Augurs well for Indian defence, not necessarily for the individual, because our system dislikes frankness and consistently punishes good sense.

HAL has not been able to deliver till date a single effective fighter class aircraft. Work culture of public sector is not conducive for high grade creativity required to built complex war machine which integrates so many sub systems. Private sector must get into this sector for enhancing Indian manufacturing capability. I fully endorse Air Marshal Barbora' frank views expressed in national interest.
