Golden Joysticks Awards 2012 - watch the whole show here

Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Fez and others battle for the podium

The Golden Joystick Awards 2012 are about to kick off, and you can watch the proceedings on this very page, care of the below livestream. How do you know the Golden Joysticks are worth watching? Well, you can't spell "Joystick" without "joy", for one thing. And everybody loves gold, especially leprechauns.

Are the games nominated this year leprechauns? No, my friend - they are titans. Titans of entertainment. Skyrim heads up a merry crew of show-stoppers which includes Forza Horizon, Fez, Mass Effect 3, SSX and Dragon's Dogma. In a matter of hours, certain of those games will be sent home in tears while others are hoisted to our shoulders and paraded through the streets like kings.

At the time of writing, there are 50 minutes to go till the party starts. Here are a few things to do while you wait: line up all your games on the sofa facing the screen, like imaginary orphan children at a charity show; make popcorn; clamp your hands over your face to constrain your barely constrainable excitement.

  1. Well it's no major shock that Minecraft has won best downloadable game on XBL.Another two awards this week then to go with all the others. :D

Glad walking dead was runner up though.

Also no massive shocker that GTA V got most anticipated game.

  2. Thank god ME3 or MW3 didn't win game of the year. Perhaps Skyrim shouldn't have won either after it needed all those patches to sort out those game-breaking bugs, but I'd rather a game developer makes a mess by being too ambitious than by putting their own warped concept of art ahead of consumer ethics or just play it safe with the same engine year after year.
