But how do I become a game tester?

become a gamesterIt is the dream of many: turn their hobby into their work. Unfortunately, the truth is that only a few succeed, but if they do then they are the happiest in their jobs. Now assume EA Spain has a vacancy open for Video Game Tester. Just go to Madrid to and deal with games daily, test them out all day long. I remember a while back that a friend of mine, let's call him Peter, was invited to go test some games for a big company

It soon became clear that Peter was very lucky to get in the world of game testers. He began his career as a tester at Philips. A large international group, but at a certain point it's all a bit monotonous. I sent him an ad that Electronic Arts was looking for Video Game Testers. It was his task to ensure that the Dutch translations in the game were in the right context came. The word "Arms" is both arms and weapons to translate and that can obviously not go wrong. The Video Game Testing was always on a project basis, so Peter had no real steady job. Therefore he left EA to work for TomTom. However, when a vast Video Game Testers team in Madrid was formed the instantly thought about Peter and again he left for Madrid.

How did he do as a Game tester

work like a game testerIn the beginning it was obviously difficult. A new country means that a lot of things are different. So many Spaniards do not speak English, which makes it difficult to communicate outside of work. Luckily he got from Electronic Arts Spain a Spanish course, so he focuses on the terraces of Madrid could help him. Within the company there was no problem with the language, since English is spoken there.

Madrid is a vibrant city, full of beautiful parks a great place to walk, something in his spare time Jim likes to do. Electronic Arts Spain is based on a forty hour week that is classified a flexible. As a Video Game Tester it could happen often that in busy times, you are scheduled to work in the weekends. You also need social skills, since you work in a team.

Leave your home to become a game tester

Moving to Madrid was a great adventure for Jim, yet it's hard to leave your friends. In his case it was wrong that his girlfriend went with him and that they are now living apart, but if you go apply for the job it is important that you do not feel homesick. It also helps if you have a gamer-mind when playing games, at least that is what Electronic Arts issues, while Jim would emphasize that you do not have to be a hardcore gamer. TAfter all he certainly wasn't

So what happened to the game tester

Game tester for u!In contradiction of the requirements asked of you as a possible Video Game Testers there are also a lot of cool things. For instance, the work you did for Electronic Arts looks good on your resume if would like to apply for another Video Game Tester adventure career. You will have the possibility to get in touch with multiple cultures, given that EA's office in Madrid, is populated with people from fifteen EU countries. And perhaps the most beautiful, and there Peter certainly agree, is that as a Video Game Tester games in an early stage will see things and know where other gamers can only dream about.
