It is set to potentially be the biggest storm ever to hit the US and Hurricane Sandy is due to arrive on the East Coast on Monday.
But while many New Yorkers are going into lockdown, some stars are taking to Twitter to make light of the situation.
Lindsay Lohan in particular was encouraging her loyal fans not to get too worked up on Sunday.
No biggie!: Lindsay Lohan took to Twitter to suggest people calm down about Hurricane Sandy, set to potentially be the worst storm ever to hit the US
Lindsay's advice: The actress led stars attempting to lift spirits as 100mph winds make their way to the East Coast
She wrote on her page: ‘WHY is everyone in SUCH a panic about hurricane (i'm calling it Sally)..? Stop projecting negativity! Think positive and pray for peace.’
The 26-year-old continued to stick to her guns and joke about the impending storm, which she later dubbed ‘Hurricane Sassy’.
Ashley Greene followed suit of Lindsay and joked about the hurricane – or rather her lack of preparation for it.
The Twilight star, 25, posted: ‘In light of the hurricane coming my way...I bought two pairs of boots, a purse, and a jacket.’

The 100mph winds have proved a huge talking point on Twitter for Tinseltown stars and regular folk alike.
So Ricky Gervais, 51, was determined not to miss a trick and ensured he lightened panicked moods with a joke about Hurricane Sandy.
The funnyman tweeted: ‘This "Sandy" who's on TV all the time and is blowing the entire east coast, I assume she's a Kardashian right?’
Others – such as Ice T’s wife Coco Austin – were more curious than anything else.

She
posted: ‘I'm obsessed with Hurricane Sandy..I just LOVE weather! The eye
of the storm is coming straight towards me!!So exciting!Am I insane?I'm
ready.’
Over 7000 flights for Sunday and Monday have been cancelled by airlines – with even more cancellations expected.
But one person who managed to catch a plane on Sunday was Ryan Seacrest, who flew into New York from Los Angeles.
Curious: Coco Austin thought she was odd for being so excited by the storm
Talking point: Coco and Ryan Seacrest joined in the conversation everyone has been having on Twitter about Sandy
The previous evening he had been
enjoying a Halloween party with his girlfriend Julianne Hough, with the
pair dressing up as Bonnie and Clyde.
And
the fact his fun was over for the time being didn’t go unnoticed by
Ryan who tweeted after touching down in the Big Apple: ‘Woke up to an
earthquake in LA, now going to bed to a hurricane in NYC...’
The
37-year-old host and producer informed his followers that he will be
providing updates about Hurricane Sandy during his On Air With Ryan
Seacrest radio show on Monday morning.
He added more lightheartedly: ‘Also have the @JonasBrothers on. Might send a canoe to pick them up.’
