Hilary Swank goes public with handsome French lover Laurent Fleury... months after splitting from long-term boyfriend

Her life was thrown into turmoil when she split from her long-term partner John Campisi just this summer.

But it seems Hilary Swank has already found love, stepping out with French real estate broker Laurent Fleury on Sunday.

The new couple smiled as they took a low key walk along the trendy Abbot Kinney street in Venice Beach, California.

Deep in conversation, they appeared unaware of others as they walked their dog, popping into an elementary school holding the local Neighbourhood Council elections.

Father-of-two Laurent is based in Paris where the two are reportedly sharing his apartment. The two have been spotted spending time with his children in the city.

Laurent has also been spending more time in Los Angeles in recent weeks, where the avid surfer finds much to occupy him.

The new romance for Hilary comes after the Million Dollar Baby split from Campisi this summer, confirming the news in August. The star then put on the market the Los Angeles home that the two had shared.

The 6.722 square foot house, which is on a third of an acre of land, was priced at $9,495 million.

Throughout the summer the 38-year-old had been busy filming Mary & Martha in South Africa and Wilmington, North Carolina, alongside Brenda Blethyn.

The actress was previously married to Rob Lowe's younger brother Chad for ten years.

The pair tied the knot in September 1997 after meeting on the set of Quiet Days in Hollywood in 1992.

They announced they were divorcing in May 2006 and Swank began dating Campisi seven months later.

Hope they are happy (or good friends, if that's what's going on). I must admit he does look sort of feminine-tough-shy. Maybe just a coincidence. Hilary in "Boys don't cry" did some of the best acting I ever saw.
