'A very perfect union': Ronnie Wood, 65, set to marry for the THIRD time to theatre producer Sally Humphreys, 34

By Louise Saunders

Ageing rocker Ronnie Wood is to marry for a third time after proposing to girlfriend of six months, Sally Humphreys.

The 65-year-old Rolling Stones guitarist reportedly popped the question to the theatre producer, who is 31 years his junior, last week.

A source told Mail Online: 'Yes. It's true. A very perfect union.'

The happy news was first reported in The Sun, and the newspaper  revealed that Ronnie had been carrying a torch for the theatre producer.

A source told The Sun: 'They've been inseparable for months and he decided to tie the knot again. Keith Richards has been laughing about it. He's sick of buying him wedding presents.'

And it would seem the rocker was the perfect gentleman, and asked Sally's parents for permission before he popped the question.

Sally explained: 'We’re both very happy and everyone is delighted for us. We’re very lucky that our families are happy and supportive of our engagement.

'Ronnie invited my parents down to London for the premiere of [Rolling Stones documentary] Crossfire Hurricane and he asked my Dad the next day.

'Then he asked me, although he didn’t go down on one knee. But I knew it was on the cards because we’d already talked about it.'

And Miss Humphreys’ musician parents, Alison, 63, and Colin, 66, are just as thrilled with the union.

Mrs Humphreys said: ‘We’ve known Ronnie for about five years and we’re absolutely delighted with the engagement.

‘He’s visited us about three times and we like him a lot. They just have such a huge amount in common, especially the arts. They’re very supportive of each other.’

Ronnie and Sally are believed to have grown close when they worked together on Ronnie's show Ronnie Wood – I Feel Like Playing - Live at the Ambassadors in October 2011.

And despite marrying one of the biggest names in showbiz, Sally has insisted their wedding won't be 'flashy'.

She added: 'We haven’t set a date yet, but the wedding will be very simple, nothing big or flashy.'

Meanwhile, the rocker is understood to have proposed with a specially commissioned platinum band.

A source said: 'He secretly commissioned a ring for her which was a copy of one he had been given that she really liked. It is very simple, made from a simple platinum band with the word “yes”.

'Everyone is expecting her to have some sparkler or a megawatt diamond upgrade, but that’s not her style.

'They are a very non-showbiz couple who love spending time with their family and generally having a quiet life with visits to the theatre and art galleries.'

The couple first stepped out together in November last year, shortly after the father-of-four's short-lived romance with blonde promotions girl Nicola Sargent.

Friends describe Miss Humphreys, a theatre and TV producer and ex-grammar school head girl, as a breath of fresh air compared to some of Wood’s previous girlfriends, who have been high-maintenance and fame-hungry.

In contrast, Miss Humphreys is articulate, hard-working, does not like the limelight and stops Wood, who has battled addictions to drink and drugs, from going off the rails.

And the brunette has won the affection of the star's stepson, Jamie, the son of his second wife Jo Wood.

He told the Mail earlier this year: 'It’s good for him because he needs someone a bit more like my mum — someone more solid — and that’s what Sally is.

'She’s a nice girl and we’ve known her for years. She’s been a friend of dad’s for a long time, but she always had a boyfriend, which I think held him back. But now the boyfriend’s gone, they’re free to be with each other.’

'She’s not his type, that’s the unusual thing. Sally’s definitely not one of the bimbos he usually goes for.

‘That’s great because she’s exactly what he needs. He’s getting a bit old now — I don’t think he can keep up with bimbos any more.’

Ronnie split from his previous girlfriend, 32-year-old Brazilian model Ana Araujo in October.

‘I’m like Picasso, painting up the ladder after leaving his mistress at the bottom after a row,' he said at the time.

According to friends, Mr Wood preferred to stay at home and rest, rather than partying.

A friend explained Miss Araujo’s desire to be in the spotlight had ‘frustrated’ him, adding: ‘She would try and drag him along to the opening of an envelope.’

In 2008, Ronnie left his wife Jo - now 55 - after 23 years of marriage for the then 18-year-old Russian cocktail waitress, Ekaterina Ivanova.

But his new love has even won the support of Ms Wood.

She said: 'I wish them all the best and I’ve already passed on my congratulations. I think they’re a great match, she’s a very sweet lady.’

Ronnie was married to first wife Krissy Findlay, the father of his son Jesse, from 1971 to 1978.

The rocker took to the stage with The Rolling Stones in Paris last week for an intimate warm-up gig ahead of their forthcoming London and New York gigs.

The band, who sold just a few hundred tickets the morning of the surprise gig, played some of their classic hits for the crowd.

They announced the gig via Twitter the morning of the performance and were faced with a deluge of ticket requests.

Ronnie is soon set to become a grandparent again when radio personality Fearne Cotton, the girlfriend of his eldest son Jesse, welcomes her first child into the world.

The 31-year-old star looked her typically stylish self as she stepped out in London on Tuesday, wearing a black fur-trimmed coat, a monochrome star-print dress and red shoe boots.

Fearne seemed to be frantically tapping away on her mobile phone, perhaps texting her father-in-law to congratulate him on his happy news.

And Ronnie has given the seal of approval to Fearne and Jesse's relationship after the couple first met in 2011.

He said: 'Fearne’s a beautiful girl. They’re lovely together. I met her when she came to a Faces gig with Jesse at Cornbury Festival. I very much approve.

‘She’s rock ‘n’ roll. I do wonder if she’ll become my daughter-in-law any time soon.’

Wishing him the best? Fearne seemed to be texting intently, perhaps passing on her congratulations to her father-in-law, as she stepped out in central London on Tuesday
