Single mother Roxanne O'Connor admitted that she was reeling from her sudden decline in the competition as she became the latest hopeful to be eliminated on Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model.

The 22-year-old, who was one of the top contenders at the start of the series, says she’s disappointed to have just missed out on making it into the final five.

‘I don’t think I should have been eliminated because I know I’ve got more, but I was expecting it,’ she told MailOnline. ‘I started off so strong but kind of free-fell down. I don’t know what happened. ‘

Roxanne was sent home after failing to impress judges Elle Macpherson, Julien Macdonald, Whitney Port and Tyson Beckford, who were joined by guest panellist, model Poppy Delevigne, this week.

The contestants took part in a terrifying tarantula shoot and a beauty shoot for Revlon and Roxanne struggled with both tasks, breaking down in tears during the first and failing to take direction in the second.

The best picture award went to fellow hopeful Lisa Madden, 19, who received high praise for her Revlon shoot and was the first girl sent through to the next round.

Following close behind her were Anita Kaushik, 19, Rissikat Oyebade, 22,  and Emma Grattidge, who all made it through to the next stage of the competition and in turn moved a step closer to the grand prize, a modelling contract with international agency Models 1.

This week’s bottom two were Roxanne and Letitia Herod, 18, and the judges were left with the dilemma of who to send home.

‘Two gorgeous, gorgeous girls,’ said Elle. ‘You’ve produced some fantastic work and we’re really, really, really pleased with both of you.

‘At this point, we’ve had to look at the girl that we think has the most potential to still becoming Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model.’

After much deliberation, the panel decided to save Letitia, and a disappointed Roxanne was sent home.

‘You’ve been fantastic,’ Elle tells her. ‘You’ve done such a great job.  Go and give your little girl a squeeze for us.’

Roxanne later said she was ‘gutted’ to be leaving the competition, particularly as she’d be missing out on a trip to Canada, where the final five were due to jet off shortly after the elimination.

‘I know they’re going to Canada which makes it ten times worse,’ she said. ‘ I’m absolutely gutted because I know I could have done better, but I was just on a free-fall.  I started really good and got crap.

‘It’s been amazing, I’ve had ups and downs, I’ve been emotional, I’ve been moody, I’ve been branded everything.  I’ve had a great time, I’ve had a good experience which I get to take home with me, and no one can take that away from me.  I’m happy that I came and I’m proud of myself that I got so far.’

Fifteen minutes with Roxanne O'Oonnor...

Do you think it was fair you were eliminated this week?

'I don¿t think I should have been eliminated' : Roxanne says she felt she had more to offer the contest

I don’t think I should have been eliminated because I know I’ve got more, but I was expecting it. I started off so strong but kind of free-fell down. I don’t know what happened.

What was your best moment on Top Model?

My best moment was definitely the surprise visit from my daughter Kyah.

And the worst moment?

My worst had to be when Tyson ripped me apart calling me arrogant and cocky as I knew it wasn’t true and I felt we got along well on the androgynous photo shoot.

Which was your favourite and least favourite photoshoot or challenge?

My favourite was the Company shoot with Rizzle Kicks as it was fun and urban but fashion which is kind of me! Least favourite was the Revlon shoot as that was the main reason I left, it was difficult as I know my angles but the photographer wouldn’t let me work them.

What did you think of the judges?

The judges were cool. Loved Julien as he’s such a fashion icon and has been in the industry so long, he’s hilarious. I don’t think Whitney liked me from the get-go. Tyson was good support. And Elle, well she’s Elle McPherson!

What did you think of the other girls?

I liked all the girls and got on well with them all. My fave is Risssikat, she’s just real! Me and Anita had some rocky patches but she’s a nice girl. I don’t have a bad word to say about any of them. We were all different individuals, strangers even, so it was nice to be around girls you wouldn’t usually meet and have things in common with.

Who do you think will win the competition?

I think Lisa or Letitia will win. They’re both stunning. Lisa is a winner for high fashion/editorial and Letitia is a winner for commercial, but they’re each good at both.

What will you do from here - continue modelling or do you have any other ambitions?

Hopefully I will continue to model. My plan is to try the London agencies and take it from there. The show has definitely given me a confidence boost and a taste for modelling.

Who is your favourite model working in the industry at the moment?

My favourite model is Jourdan Dunn. She’s a young mum like me with so much ambition. As a young black model her career is and continues to be amazing.

What would be your dream fashion campaign/advert to star in?

I would love to model for Prada, Gucci or Burberry, whether it be walking on the runway or in London/NY fashion week or a photo shoot for them. That is my dream.

She should look after the baby instead of running after fame, she wanted to go to Canada and leave the baby what kind of mother is that, selfsh why have children if you want that sort of life.

I would have done more than cry if I had a tarantula on my face.

i could not stand Roxanne - there was always some drama and/or attitude and she just became really tedious to watch. I agree there is something with Elle McPherson disliking Letitia - pretty much every week there is some type of nasty comment , ' the client really didn't like you' , or saying that Letitia teases then acts all innocent. Weird how Elle cannot be professional, i guess it's not Letitia who wins then!

I can't believe hard face Madeline is still there. She is not pretty and her pictures are bad every week. Good models are leaving while she is still there.

Roxy did little to impress me other than sulk, whine and treat everyone around with utter disdain. Models are told in the programme that they need to appeal to women as this is their primary market - and she may be beautiful and photogenic but she had little in the way of personal warmth. I personally like Emma, she's quite beautiful and consistently under rated but seems to be a genuinely lovely girl.
