In bed: X Factor contestant Drew Chadwick was rushed to hospital after eating a dodgy tuna sandwich

With his band Emblem3 he is one of the favourites to win the X Factor.

But Drew Chadwick's dreams were nearly over before they began after he ate a dodgy tuna sandwich.

The pop wannabe was rushed from the show's set to a hospital in Los Angeles, and is currently on an IV drip as he could not stop vomiting.

His bandmates Keaton Stromberg, and Wesley Stromberg are now rehearsing without him, and will perform regardless if he cannot make it back on time.

According to TMZ he was not the only contestant to be affected, as several other contestants ended up throwing up after eating the sandwiches.

Six crew members are out sick, while Camilla from the group 1432 is on set, but is having to repeatedly rush to the bathroom.

It seems the sickness started on Wednesday night when a bunch of contestants and crew members ordered take out to their posh Hollywood Hills home.

Almost everyone who ate the tuna salad subs were up sick all night.

His band would no doubt prefer if producers followed in the footsteps of their British counterparts.

For earlier this week they allowed Lucy Spraggan to automatically progress through to next week's X Factor after doctors deem her 'too ill to perform.'

However the decision has caused controversy among a large portion of fans, with some claiming she has an unfair advantage.

From trio to duo: Keaton Stromberg (L) and Wesley Stromberg (R) are preparing to perform without Drew

I recall last season the contestants' hotel rooms being infested with bed bugs. Now a food poisoning outbreak? I would not trust the people managing me if I were on this show.

Yikes! This sounds like a set-up ... Drew and Camilla are two of the stand-out performers thus far - so what are the odds? THANK GOODNESS nobody from Lyric 145 has taken ill - phew!!!

IT IS A BAND WITH THREE MEMBERS. THEY ARE HUGELY DISADVANTAGED WITHOUT THE THIRD AND SHOULD BE PUT AUTOMATICALLY THROUGH TO THE NEXT SHOW SINCE ONE OF THEM IS ILL ENOUGH TO BE HOSPITALISED. WE DO NOT PENALISE POP STARS FOR CANCELLING A CONCERT WHEN TOO ILL TO PERFORM, AND REFUND TICKETS.WHY IS THIS DIFFERENT? (SORRY FOR CAPS.DOUBLE VISION)
