EA's latest shooter is looking to take the crown from Modern Warfare a week before that 400 lb. gorilla hits shelves from Activision and Infinity Ward!

Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are two weird games to talk about, because for defenders in each corner, it seems less important how these two shooters play and more important how they sell. BF3 is coming hard at Infinity Ward's latest on the heels of a very public defection of some of IW's senior staff last year and huge numbers for Treyarch's entry in the series last year. The narrative has become that Infinity Ward has been awesome at what they do, but it doesn't take Infinity Ward to sell A Call of Duty game in the millions of copies. Look, I don't know where the rest of you are hiding all this "collector's edition" expendable income, but please send some of it my way. It seems that with each announcement of a super-duper version of any given triple-A title, the price keeps raising in increments of at least $20. Last month, we found out that the "Batman: Arkham City" collector's edition will empty your bat-wallet for $100. Then, came word of the "Lord of the Rings: War in the North" limited edition that is so hardcore, you will gladly hand over $130 to wear an arrow quiver to the local GameStop every Tuesday.

Today, Bethesda has announced the collector's edition of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," and I hope you've been saving some rare dragon scales somewhere, because it's $150.
