CEO Labhesh Patel, seated, and CTO Sanjeev Kumar say they will save money on wireless bills for their customers or they don’t get paid.

THE BUSINESS: CellKnight Inc. has developed a software-as-a-service (SaaS) product that small- and medium-sized businesses can use to analyze wireless usage (voice, data and text) and find the best wireless plan for each employee. CellKnight claims its product reduces business wireless spending by between 25 percent and 55 percent. Once in place, CellKnight monitors the wireless usage and makes plan adjustments so that the business doesn’t incur overages. CellKnight says that a recent beta customer was able to slash $440,000 (43 percent) from its annual wireless spending.

HOW IT WILL MAKE MONEY: CellKnight offers a free, no-obligation wireless account analysis. If approved, CellKnight implements the recommended plan changes and charges 33 percent of the savings for a period of three years as its fee. There is no charge if there are no savings.

BUSINESS/TECHNOLOGY IT COULD DISRUPT: Wireless expense management for small and medium companies is handled by telecom consultants using manual methods such as Excel spreadsheets. CellKnight said its SaaS-based product consistently finds more savings even on accounts previously analyzed by manual means.

MANAGEMENT TEAM: CEO and co-founder Labhesh Patel worked with the voice technology group at Cisco Systems Inc. for nine years on various product lines from concept to customer shipment. He reportedly filed the second highest number of patents in Cisco history (49 issued, 105 pending). Chief Technology Officer and co-founder Sanjeev Kumar invented a software architecture that is used by

companies and research labs. He also worked for the voice technology group at Cisco, where he has several patents.
