Leaving on a jet plane: Nicole Kidman boards private jet Down Under as husband Keith Urban graces the red carpet solo

They're usually inseparable, but it seems work commitments have divided Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban.

The flame haired actress was spotted boarding a private jet in Australia on Thursday, while her singer husband attended the Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee.

Nicole, 45, was joined by her parents as she flew privately from Sydney to Melbourne, where she is expected to attend the Melbourne's Cup Derby Day on Saturday.

The actress looked relaxed and seemed to enjoy spending some quality time with her family Down Under, despite the absence of her husband and their two young daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith.

Dressed down in a simple but elegant look featuring eye-catching peach jeans, a light brown sweater and white shirt, the star had trouble keeping her feet in a pair of sandals as she stepped into the Australian spring heat.

But the trip to her home country isn't expected to last long, as she's due to fly out of Australia immediately after her appearance at the Derby Day.

And Nicole has been getting used to the luxuries of a private jet lately, as she has been filming a new biopic on Grace Kelly in Monaco.

She has been spotted on a private yacht and wearing a large white ballgown as she shot a glamorous scene in the country earlier this week.

A close friend of Grace Kelly, Lynn Wyatt, recently told People magazine she's thrilled the beautiful actress is portraying her late friend.

'First of all, I know Nicole Kidman. There is nobody more gorgeous,' she told the magazine.

'She's beautiful inside and out, and she's very sweet. She's very nice and she's caring. I think she would be perfect.'

Meanwhile Keith, who usually gets the support from his superstar wife on the red carpet, this time had to grace the awards ceremony solo.

He was up for a gong as well, after getting nominated for the prestigious Meal Vocalist of the Year award, but lost out to Blake Shelton.

I like and respect Nicole very much, but if celebs are going to endorse environmental causes (and I do not mean to pick on her alone) they are going to have to give up their private jets, chartered or otherwise. Ditto for "green" CEOs. That now includes you Mayor Bloomberg, as you have blamed Sandy (a category 1 hurricane, which we have had countless hit the US before) on global warning and used this reason to officially support President Obama for reelection. I ask all people reading this: do you think Mayor Bloomberg, a billionaire, is prepared to fly commercially from now on?
