When I was a teenager I started learning some folk songs and singing harmony with my dad, and I realized that I liked the same stuff he was listening to. I liked a lot of male/female duets like Jody Stecher and Kate Brislin, Tim & Mollie O’Brien, and Gillian Welch and David Rawlings.     We're still playing an occasional Hobohemians show, but I spend most of my time with the double-banjo bluegrass band, Hot Mustard.
I was exposed to a lot of great music at a very young age, probably before birth, but it’s hard to remember. My father played in a bluegrass band and there was always music in the house.

The whole family still gets together to pick a few times a year! Dad let me take his old Gibson J-45 with me when I left the nest. I started playing shows with my dad as The Hobohemians, and we played consistently for about 10 years.
