We did it!  We made our Kickstarter goal!  Thanks to you and all your support- we reached our goal and we are headed straight to a “New Frontier” and the making of our new CD on Compass Records to be released in early 2013.   WooHoo!

We couldn’t have done this without the faith and love shown to us, not just by the backers, but by the folks who helped by posting and emailing, sharing and shouting!  Everyone made a difference.   Thank you all.

Kickstart Us to a “New Frontier”
August 27, 2012 by missyraines

We are excited to announce the launching of our Kickstarter Campaign to help us make our new CD, “New Frontier”.  Kickstarter is the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects. Every week, tens of thousands of amazing people pledge millions of dollars to projects from the worlds of music, film, art, technology, design, food, publishing and other creative fields.  In exchange for participation with our Kickstarter we have created lots of very fun and unique Rewards to reward you for your generosity so you can find the level and reward that is right for you and be part of the creative process!!    Go here for more info.

We’ve been working hard to bring these new tunes to life. We’re headed to a “New Frontier”. We hope you will come along with us!

I’ve been playing music since I was a kid, and I’ve had the amazing experience of having you all right there with me, rooting for me, encouraging me to see how far it could go.  Lately, I’ve found myself back at the well and dipping in.  I have spent some time woodshedding, searching, and digging.  I’ve been digging in my garden, digging in my music and digging in my soul, trying to define that indescribable “thing” that drives us all to do what we do.

For me the “thing” is music, and as many of you may know my life until the last few years revolved mostly around the acoustic bass- but along this fantastic journey I realized that I could stretch myself even further- explore boundaries that I didn’t even know existed until recently.

That’s one of the reasons that I struck out on my own and started my band, The New Hip.  It seems that the more exploring I do, the more of my own boundaries that I push, the more I know without a doubt that this is what I’m supposed to be doing.  Not just playing music, but reaching and broadening my scope, stretching my comfort zone, and allowing myself to create sounds that I love without thought (or worry) to where it all might fit in this world.

Bass Super School
July 11, 2012 by missyraines

Very excited to tell you about the recent launch of ArtistWorks new interactive “Bass Super School”, featuring virtuoso Jazz Bassist John Patitucci, Rock/Pop Bass Legend Nathan East, & me.    “ArtistWorks Bass Campus” offers bass enthusiasts around the world the chance to learn to play bass directly using leading edge technology.

The Bass Campus utilizes ArtistWorks’ Video Exchange™ Accelerated Learning Platform, which enables its members to watch streaming video lessons at their own pace and submit their practice videos for feedback from their teacher. Each student submission is reviewed and responded to by the artists personally, providing video feedback on how the student can further improve. These “Video Exchanges” are made available to the entire online community, enabling students to learn from each other as well as the teacher, creating a virtual classroom with an ever-expanding curriculum.

The Bass Campus is divided into three distinctly different bass schools: Jazz Bass School with John Patitucci, Pop & Rock Bass School with Nathan East, and Bluegrass Bass School with Missy Raines, so this is definitely ‘one-stop-shopping’ at its’ finest.

Both Nathan East and John Patitucci absolutely establish the ArtistWorks Bass Academy faculty as one of the most diverse and inspiring in the world.

The ArtistWorks Bass Campus is open to bass enthusiasts of all ages and playing ability. Tuition is reasonably priced at $90.00 for 3 months, $150.00 for 6 months and $240.00 for a 12-month subscription. For more information visit http://www.artistworksbass.com.
