While the secondary Dtoid twitch.tv channel has been around for a while now, and the main channel guys try to namedrop it when they can, it feels like Streamtoid's been getting little to no love beyond 321GoCast, TF2sdays, and a lot of Rock Band, for the most part. Searching the site for "streamtoid" only yields TF2sday announcements, there's no mention of it at all in the forums, and even the channel page itself has no real info beyond "it's kind of unscheduled." I've a few ideas to help it get a bit more attention, and maybe some fresh blood, if anyone's listening.

1) Make it clearer how to get on Streamtoid if you're an aspiring streamer: There's absolutely no information as to how people get to try streaming on Streamtoid in the first place; the closest I've ever heard was being told in the Dtoid.tv facebook group back in the day to get in touch with Spencer Hayes, and subsequently never hearing anything back, yay or nay, after two or three different emails. I have no idea if I was barking up the wrong tree or what, but I feel a centralized contact method for potential Streamtoiders would be a leap in and of itself.

2) Forum subsection: If interest does start drumming up, or just to drum up said interest, it might help to have a forum for Streamtoid broadcasters to interact with their audiences and just hash out scheduling on their own, since solid timeslots don't seem to be a thing.

3) Oversee the channel itself a bit more: I've seen a few interesting streams on Streamtoid that I haven't had time to sit down and watch, like a bunch of guys playing what seemed to be a tabletop or board game, but upon trying to check out the archives, I found nothing but the past couple weeks' shows had been saved. It is kind of annoying to have to go in and click "Save Forever" for any video you want to keep around on Twitch, but if someone could spend a few minutes each day doing that or just teach the broadcasters to do it themselves while they're logged in, I think there'd be a great deal more to show for what's going on there and to entice other people to sign up and try streaming something new. I also mentioned the barren info section earlier; I know things are unscheduled there, but even just some blurbs as to currently active, regular broadcasts would be better than giving the impression it's some sort of barren wasteland, with times for those shows that are on the reg like TF2sdays.

4) Highlights?: It was recently announced that Dtoid.tv proper was getting its own highlight channel on Youtube. Perhaps Streamtoid could get a little attention there as well? Highlight uploading would need to be overseen by a staffer, of course, but again, more exposure for minimal exertion.

5) A "How-To:" Getting into streaming isn't -that- hard if you know where to look, but most people don't know where to start looking, which can be intimidating, never mind the fact that conflicting and outdated information on the topic abounds, given how fast the technology and the scene has grown up in the past few years. Even as much as rundown on equipment needs and tiers, software types and how to set them up, and some other protips might lower the barrier to entry and get Streamtoid jumpin'. Hell, I've been pondering doing just that with a cblog and some asking around for extra input, but I hesitate because of the first issue in this suggestion: having no idea who someone would talk to if they wanted to try getting on Streamtoid.

So, uh, yeah. It's simpler than my word-dump would imply, but it'd be nice to see Streamtoid get some fresh blood and further expand the selection of excellent live programming beyond the main channel's already solid spread, and it's not like the already excellent new site design would need any adjustments to do just that.

I think they should be removed simply because downvotes don't encourage an open platform for discussion. In every community I have seen it implemented it encourages members to think the same way, otherwise they risk a deluge of negative downvotes. Just as an example saying that you like a shooter could draw the ire of the community and mean your comment would be buried.

Removing downvotes also might have an added benefit by encourage discussion, as anyone that disagrees will have to reply to voice their disagreement instead of doing a fire and forget downvote and moving on. It's just a suggestion I thought would make commenting a bit better and a better platform to discuss things whatever viewpoint members have.

First let me say that your "Top 50 Videogames of the Decade" was amazing. It was by far the best videogame list I have read on the internet, and trust me, I've read a lot of them.

Having said that, I would love to read a feature about "The Best Videogames of All Time."

I'm looking to go back and play some old videogames and discover some recent gems that have gone overlooked. I, however, do not hav e videogame knowledge like the staff at destructoid, so I would love to hear your list so I can go back and play the best games that have ever been made.

Tl;dr: If you made a "best games of all time" list, I would be so happy.

Currently when you post a review or whatever, I get the WHOLE THING in my RSS reader. I should get the first paragraph or something, then a link to the full article. That's the way all other RSS feeds work.

Instead your feed saps my bandwidth with all the pictures and interrupts my news flow. I've got to scroll for like 5 seconds to get past any stories I'm not interested in. I read Destructoid because I want to sit here and rot in my own filth, not because I want a workout.

This is bad for your own self-interest too, since it means I get your entire articles without ever having to visit your site.

THIS APPLIES TO ALL YOUR NETWORKED SITES, BUT MOST ESPECIALLY TOMOPOP. I had to unsubscribe from Tomopop because there's so bloody many pictures that when I marathon-scroll past a Tomopop article and then try to read the next one, the pictures keep loading, pushing the story I'm reading further and further down. I don't want to be hyperbolic, but it's something Hitler would do.

I would like to suggest a change. When we open up an article on the left hand panel we can still see the reviews box. I would suggest instead of that there should be a list of related articles.

For eg. If it is about Wii Livestreaming event then it can list the articles with related hashtags. If it is a game then list all news related to that game to the right.

It would make the place easier to navigate. You guys can check up how The Verge does it. They call it storystream and it makes it sooo much easier for us to track all the new gadgets.
