The super-storm that hit New York last week will be written into the script of Girls, the hit US show being dubbed the new Sex And The City.

Its creator and star Lena Dunham plans to make reference to Superstorm Sandy in a second series of the comedy-drama which features a group of twentysomethings in the Big Apple.

‘Lena loves gritty realism so the storm will feature in Girls,’ says my mole in Manhattan.

However, The Carrie Diaries – a Sex And The City prequel starring AnnaSophia Robb will not include the incident.

‘The Carrie Diaries is going to be as glossy and high fashion as SATC so the producers are unlikely to follow suit,’ adds the source.

The Carrie Diaries is due to be screened in the United States in the New Year.

It is based on Bushnell's 2010 book of the same name, which lifted the lid on Carrie's formative years and introduced SATC fans to a new set of characters including love interest Sebastian Kydd, most popular girl, Donna LaDonna and Carrie's younger sisters, Missy and Dorrit.

The upcoming CW series, which is set in the Eighties, follows Carrie in her high school days as she attempts to forge a writing career.

It focuses on her senior year of high school and part of her life in New York working as a writer.

TV bosses will be hoping the show, which is created by Gossip Girl’s Josh Schwartz, will share the success of the HBO show, which ran for six seasons and spawned two hit movies.

I would imagine that the main reason The Carrie Diaries won't feature Hurricane Sandy is because it's set in the 80s...as your article says...

Both shows are about worthless, and yes i am a guy, but most women I talk to say the same thing... The sex and the city one is even worse seeing how the original was for the 50+ aged women to live through, they won't relate with the teen girls.. Girls on the other hand is just a worthless show. How that girl got so much money for a book and for the show is amazingly stupid of hollywood. No one over the age of 20 wants to have a woman that age give advice to them about life when she herself hasn't lived it yet.

Girls series 2 finished filming already so that's not really possible.

Obviously Superstorm Sandy would not be featured in the Carrie Diaries, as the book and the show take place in the 1980s!
