Ben Stiller took time out from his busy showbiz lifestyle to help Superstorm Sandy victims.

The Zoolander star was snapped feeding the hungry at a shelter in Brooklyn on Friday and seemed somewhat sheepish to be found out.

Stiller, dressed in a neon reflective volunteer jacket, was serving up pancakes, bacon and eggs to the hungry New Yorkers who had lost their homes or had no power after Sandy ripped through the city.

The 46-year-old actor gave an almost resigned wave with a gloved hand as someone in the line snapped a photo of him.

Stiller lives in New York with his wife actress Christine Taylor and their two children, Ella Olivia, 10, and Quinlin Dempsey, seven.

Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin visited New York University to raise the spirits of the hundreds of students who had to be evacuated from their dorms.

The students are currently sleeping in wall-to-wall cots at the main undergraduate activity building, the Kimmel Center, but were said to be 'thrilled at the unexpected guest.

The 30 Rock star apparently visited the students room by room and said: 'In my lifetime, this is like, unprecedented.'

Elsewhere, Bethenny Frankel has donated a whopping $50,000 to the Red Cross to help relief efforts.

Giving some money would be better - John , Edinburgh, 03/11/2012 20:30 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Giving their time is just as good and who says they haven't donated money besides the world isn't predicated on cash being altruistic with others without whipping out a wallet shows more integrity and character

John from Edinburgh - how do you KNOW he hasn't ALSO made a financial donation? Why must you put down an act of kindness? He's not some z-lister who needs the publicity - he's just helping out. Goodness me, grow up.

Things are so bad in New Jersey I still haven't been able to make any contact with my 2 brothers and their families there nor my son and his family. They were not directly on the Jersey Shore sandbar which was hardest hit. Their towns are 3-4 miles from the water line, but the total overall devastation to infrastructure, with downed power lines, trees still blocking many roads, cars swept around by ocean surge which block roads, power outages means no pumped water or sewage. Add the misery of food and gasoline shortages due to blocked roads and anarchy has erupted in many places in NJ and on Long Island. Low life scum looters add to the misery and destroyed many small biz which may never recover. Biggest problem is totally inept politicians who create more problems than they solve. They all should be forced out on the streets physically cleaning up the mess they created due to canceled infrastructure improvements, like seawalls. FEMA is a complete disaster, IMHO

This is so lovely to see and shows that amongst the mega elite that there is still genuine altruism! Unlike some of his celebrity counter parts Ben Stiller took the time to be proactive and get involved he should be commended for this. Unlike Russell Crowe who took to Twitter to gush about a star-studded scene at Cipriani that he attended during SANDY with Leo, Beyonce, Dita et al. The world needs us all who are fiscally in a position to be more involved and help....note to Crowe et al, here is hoping that any money made from your halloween party during Sandy goes to charity...other wise hang your head in shame as STILLER has shown you all what a true humanitarian should be!!

I am not surprised at Ben Stiller's activities. His parents have always been very down to earth and normal people and they brought him up the right way.

Why can't they donate some of their millions you ask. How do you know that they haven't donated money as well as their time? It would be rather crass of them to shout from the rooftops that they donated money. At least they're doing something!
