iPhone 5 pre-orders: Experts predict 'unprecedented demand' and queues

Comments (209)

The iPhone 5 starts from $199 in the US because that is the price on a contract. UK from price is based on PAYG. I understand we get ripped off in the UK but thats why the price is so drastic in this case - Matt, Manchester, United Kingdom, 13/9/2012 15:17 ---------------------------------------- I wouldn't say you're being ripped off. Have you ever looked at the prices for those US 24 month contracts? Figure about $150 per month for 24 months, or a total cost of $3,799 (£2,347) for the phone and 24 months of service. ------------------------- Still feel like you're being ripped off?

Scottish wildcats could be extinct 'within months' warn experts as they reveal there could be just 35 left in the wild

Comments (25)

Drayton Manor has wild cats in its zoo, and I'm sure there are many others living in captivity. A female cat can produce 30 offspring in one year. Surely the answer is to get these cats breeding continuously for four or five years and there would be hundreds of thousands. - Anonymous female , Midlands, United Kingdom, 13/9/2012 11:44 ------------------------------------------ Great plan. Only one problem though. Once you have hundreds of thousands of wildcats, what are you going to do with them all? You can't release them, or the exact same thing will happen. So, you'll have to keep them all in captivity, but then if the only ones left are born, raised, and bred in captivity, they aren't really wildcats anymore, are they? You'll have turned them into just another domesticated breed.

Agony of disabled mother forced to spend soldier son's legacy after her benefits were stopped

Comments (121)

Only in the UK can you come up with the most ridiculous of excuses and be declared unfit for working, and then spend the rest of your life beng supported by taxpayers. ----------------------------------- Hypermobility syndrome? Really? -------------------------- Funny that she does not appear to be in the "extremely physically fit" category which hypermobility syndrome sufferers are required to maintain to prevent further injuries to themselves, isn't it? ----------------------------------------- e Americans have a different term for people like this. We call them lazy bums who need to get a job, and we don't feel like they deserve our tax money.

If you really cared about your dog wouldn't it be better to let them inside your home rather than keeping them in the garden in some overpriced decorative box?

Ford Mustang muscle car gallops to Britain to woo Mondeo man and revive flagging sales

Comments (65)

Completely Average , Somewhere, May be so... but look at the Muscle Mac1 with nitro injection (which mine was) on a straight line was untouchable......in the bends was more "fun-scary fun tho" and every time you had to change "pants" - loris, milan, 7/9/2012 7:30 --------------------------------- Hardly untouchable. I've seen modded V6's run1/4 mile drag races in the low 12s at over 110 MPH. I've seen 5.0 GTs in the 10s. The 2013 Shelby GT500 can run the 1/4 mile in the 10s and break 200 MPH, and I daresay your old Mach 1 could ever dream of. --------------------------------------- BTW, you're really not convincing me you actually owned one when you misspell the name of the car TWICE. It's Mach, not Mac. It was very clearly written on both sides and the rear of the car. MACH 1.

Obama's DNC 2012 speech: President tells Democratic National Convention 'our problems can be solved'

Comments (542)

Every independent and government inquiry ever commissioned into the matter found that the CRA played little to no part whatsoever in the entire mess. The fault for this mess lies with a combination of the banking industry, the complete lack of any regulation of the subprime market, and on American consumers that were literally too stupid to read what they were signing. It has nothing to do with democrats or republicans. - Alex, Cincinnati, 7/9/2012 15:38 ---------------------------------- You are wrong, and I'll tell you why. ----------------- Prior to 1999 subprime mortgages were NOT federally insured. Very few banks gambled on the risky subprime market because they carried such risks and there was no assurance they would get their money back. Bill Clinton changed all of that in 1999, and it was the requirement to federally insure the subprime market that ultimately led to the collapse. ---------- Had he loans not been insured, they would not have been made.

Ford Mustang muscle car gallops to Britain to woo Mondeo man and revive flagging sales

The comments here should read "All I know about a Mustang I learned from a Top Gear episode 5 years ago." ------------------------------------- It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. ------------------------------------ Here are the simple numbers. Mustang skidpad = .91g of lateral force, 600ft slalom at 67.8 mph. ----------- Compared to VW GTI skidpad = .87g, slalom = 65.5 mph --------------------- Hyundai Coupe 3.8 Skidpad = .89g, slalom = 67.4 mph ----------------------- Mazda MX 8 skipad = .88g, slalom = 65.4 mph --------------------------------- Nissan Skyline skidpad = .85g, slalom = 66.2 mph ----------------------- ------------------------- In fact the Mustang has similar performance in the corners to an Audi A4, and slightly better than a BMW 328i Coupe.

If it needs fixing, let it be fixed after my life-time. - jam, EWING, United States, 7/9/2012 11:43 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- I cannot imagine a better example of liberal thinking than that statement right there.
