Using his fame for good: Adam Levine urges his fans to help Hurricane Sandy victims with self made sign
|
If you're followed around all day by paparazzi anyway you might as well use them to do some good, Adam Levine must have thought.
The Maroon 5 heartthrob was out having lunch with his model girlfriend Behati Prinsloo in Los Angeles on Sunday, when he spotted volunteers from the Red Cross trying to raise money to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The star then decided to make use of his famous face and borrowed a pen and a piece of paper to urge his own fans to donate money.
Chipping in: Adam Levine showed off his charitable side as he tries to raise awareness for the Red Cross
Holding up a makeshift sign with the Red Cross Sandy campaign information, reading 'Text Red Cross to 90999', the actor tried to get the message across to the rest of the world.
The goodlooking couple just left The Mustard Seed Cafe in Los Feliz after grabbing a bite to eat when Adam was approached by locals volunteering for the charity organistion.
Showing he has his heart in the right place, Adam agreed to do his bit and help them raise awareness for their cause.
The good side of fame: Adam used his celebrity status to urge people to help Hurricane Sandy victims
A little help from Adam: The singer got the idea after volunteers approached him and asked for his support
The musician may have taken his charity cue from fellow celebrities Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield and Scarlett Johansson, who have all held up signs for paparazzi in the past stating charity information.
Regardless, The Voice judge did his bit to help the victims of the storm which raved alongside the East Coast of the United States last week, leaving many people homeless.
And it might have contributed to the success of the campaign, as the Red Cross revealed it raised 18 million dollars so far.
Riding in your car: The Maroon 5 frontman and his model girlfriend rode off in his Porsche after making the charity appeal
The 33-year-old and his Victoria Secret model girlfriend were making the most of their time together, after Adam returned from touring the world with his band.
The singer also recently made his acting debut with a small part in the second series of popular TV show American Horror Story, and although his character got killed off after only two episodes he will likely appear in more later in the season.
He's also still a mentor on the US version of the talent show The Voice, and even though he fights with colleague Christina Aguilera continuously on the show, he did recently stick up for her.
Sunday date: The couple was just returning from a meal at The Mustard Seed Cafe
Asked during a Q&A what he thinks about her current weight, he backed the blonde singer, saying: 'The one thing about the culture right now, celebrity culture particularly, that is so ugly is that people feel like they can just say nasty things about other people. She gets a lot of it.'
'It pisses me off. Of course I have her back, of course I defend her.'
'People shouldn't say those kinds of things because, f*** you. It's like, come on guys, grow up.'
