Ire of the tiger: Furious tigress savages male rival who stole the fresh meat she'd caught for dinner

By Sabi Phagura

Revenge is sweet as this male tiger quickly found out.

After doing all the hard work of capturing and killing a gazelle, the tigress understandably became upset when her dinner was stolen from right under her nose by a cheeky younger male.

She knew she was playing with fire when she decided to get her revenge but that didn't stop her from getting her dinner back. The tigress waited for her stronger and agile rival to return to her territory for a second time before pouncing on him.

Biding her time: Not one to let go, the tigress (pictured right) lays in wait for the male tiger to return to the territory to get her revenge

Squaring up: The tigress (pictured right) launches in for the attack and takes on her opponent using the full force of her body weight.

During the short but ferocious battle, the tigress used her whole body weight to scare off the larger cat.

She then took him completely by surprise and attacked him with her right paw.

The intense seven second attack was enough to send the food thief scurrying off.

The incredible moment was captured on camera at the Ranthambhore National Park in Rajasthan, India, by wildlife photographer Dhritiman Mukherjee.

Dhritiman, 37, said: 'This tiger entered into the territory of the old female on that day and stole the kill which was done by the female in the morning. But nothing happened.

'I was expecting something in the evening so I went to the same area and found both the tiger and tigress resting in two sides of the road.

'We predicted they would meet at that point, and they came in front of us and started fighting.

'The fight was deadly and the male was so powerful that female could die easily.'

Such beautiful and majestic animals. I cannot understand how the Chinese can only think of them as raw materials for their quackery. - Sam, Leeds - - - - - - - - - Hahahahha. Just like the BRITISH ROYAL QUACKERY.

A few pictures with a made up story. Heres my version of what is happening. The girl tiger is trying to eat her cubs. The boy tiger is trying to stop her. So they both have fisticuffs. The girl tiger wins and eats her cubs because she is hungry. (A) Which story is the correct one? (B) Can you prove it?

This wasn't really about the earlier kill. Poor old dad comes home after a hard day's work, puts his paws up and asks, quite reasonably, for the paper and a cup of tea. Wants to watch bit of Strictly. She's a bit menopawsal (I know it's spelt wrong) and goes for him. After all, she's had a tough day, getting the cubs to school, sharpening her claws, bit of fur trimming. This is the truth of what these pictures convey.................
