Lindsay Lohan 'to be charged with lying to police after claiming she hadn't been driving when her Porsche crashed into a truck'

Lindsay Lohan is set to be charged with lying to police following a car accident back in June, it has been claimed.

Lindsay is said to have claimed she wasn't driving when her Porsche crashed into the back of a truck on the Pacific Coast Highway, while multiple witnesses assert that she was in fact behind the wheel at the time of the accident.

And now, according to TMZ.com, the case is set to be filed as a misdemeanour as early as this week by the Santa Monica City Attorney.

However, if the charge goes ahead, it could be reason enough for judge Stephanie Sautner to deem Lindsay's probation violated.

Lindsay is currently on probation after admitting to stealing a necklace back in 2011.

In addition, TMZ.com also claim that following the June crash, police found tablets in the trunk of her car, with Lindsay's lawyer Shawn Holley later providing the police with documents proving that the medication was properly prescribed.

Lindsay has a complex legal history that includes drink driving convictions and her infamous no-contest plea to the jewellery theft last year.

In May 2007, Lindsay was arrested on suspicion of drinking under the influence and this led to her heading for rehab for 45 days.

In July that year, Lindsay refused to take a sobriety test and was taken to a police station where her blood alcohol level was over the limit. She also had some cocaine in her pocket.

She later spent 23 days in jail after violating her probation agreement.

She was also charged with misdemeanor theft and probation violation in February 2011 following the shoplifting of a necklace from a Venice Beach store, sentenced to 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service.

In addition, she was also ordered to remain under supervision whilst completing all of her community service.

The actress pleaded no contest in court, and was put under house arrest complete with ankle bracelet monitor due to jail overcrowding.

Lindsay was then later sentenced to 30 days in jail and 400 hours of community service in November, after she was found guilty of violating her probation because she failed to perform her community service at a Los Angeles morgue.

She entered jail on November 7, 2011, but was released after just under five hours, again due to overcrowding.

The actress finally ended her supervised probation in March this year after fulfilling all of her community service and therapy requirements.

In August this year Lindsay was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department over the purported theft of $100,000 worth of luxury items from the home of her multimillionaire friend Sam Magid.

And in September it emerged she was being investigated for allegedly hitting a pedestrian with her Porsche while on a night out in Manhattan, with the victim claiming she smelled of alcohol and had been slurring her words, and that he treated him like a 'nothing.'

Lindsay had been scheduled to appear in Manhattan court in New York over the September 19 arrest for leaving the scene of the accident, in which she allegedly drove a Porsche into a bystander at The Dream Hotel.

However after examining surveillance footage, prosecutors determined there was not enough evidence to get a conviction.

The alleged victim, restaurant worker Jose Rodriguez, could still however pursue civil charges - but Lindsay was said to be 'ecstatic' that the criminal case has now been dismissed, TMZ claimed.

When you have toxic parents like she does you are brought up learning how to lie and manipulate. Im not sure she knows how to be anything else. She is not good at keeping her head down and applying herself to a REAL life. She better grow up soon or it will be too late.

Even though this is clearly a violation of her probation, she will do no time at all. The courts are doing her no favors giving her a pass, time after time.
