Resident Evil 6 pushes Kevin VanOrd's buttons in this video review.
I really hate Kevin VanOrd for smashing RE6. Its a good game and fun. Just because you suck at it does'nt give u the right to give it a bad review!
Love this and its my favourate cant wait for it
When reality shows on TV were the fad, it proved that the majority of people watch crap. Now most game players unfortunately play crappy games so yeah, good games are becoming extinct. :(
freefadi 100% agree
i love all the resident evils but they destroyed it with zombies with gunz not to mention they are accurate as ever come on they are zombies and im sick of the co op crap only ada is single player and what makes it worst you can get attacked during a movie scenes i also hate the camera change during game play they could of did betta but imma stiil play
Mercs is solid and way more fun than 5's version. I do see the flaws but from the vast size of this game I'll let it slide. Because fact is when it's good it woops any other game in its genre.
RE fans: Best advice I can give is: start with Leon's campaign. If that doesn't grab your attention nothing of this game probably will. Ask for a refund, sell it, trade it, whatever, or wait for the gold version that includes all DLC.
The more I play this game, the more I agree with the review. The QTEs get so annoying and there's like a cutscene every 5 minutes. Once I platinum it, I'm trading it in. I will never return to this series again until they fix the godawful gameplay.
RE6 not that bad..infact i really enjoy playing it..its 3 stories are combination of horror action adventure...i'll give it 9.0..only problem i found is we can equip only 3skills at a time..
i would like to see a Resident Evil game made by the Alan Wake developers?
ahpuck It's a shame, really.
I love this review. Nothing better than Kevin ripping a game to bits.
I still play RE1-3. I love the remake/port for the Wii. Resident Evil 4 was entertaining - though I started to feel as if the survival/horror aspects were being compromised for a more action-oriented experience. Maybe it is because I was about 10 years old when RE1 was released that I have an attachment and fondness for the original Playstation games and the old RE games = childhood memories of being tensed up while playing. After reading several reviews and comments, I'm certain I won't purchase RE6, although I might play through it at some point. I think if Capcom were to continue with the RE franchise, some survival/horror mechanics that I would like to see are: searching for food and water, finding medicine to treat certain injuries (beyond just mixing rasta-colored herbs), being able to make your own melee weapons to bash or pierce zombie brains, scarcity of ammo rounds, have a stamina bar that dictates the power of your melee swings/run speed and depletes as the day carries on, setting up traps to prevent an ambush while you rest to regain stamina, use stealth if you want to try and avoid zombie confrontations, have encounters with human survivors that you can try to barter with or kill if need be, implement some sort of character progression - where in the beginning you are an unseasoned trembling mess, but eventually become battle-hardened. I like being S.T.A.R.S. members and Government Agents but I think introducing a protagonist that is more....civilian could breathe new life into the series. I don't know - maybe I've just been watching too much Walking Dead on TV.
EMPTY-V me and my ps vita- is playing resident evil 3 ') SO yeah .. Let play Resident Evil and just wait till Metal gear comes out, cause those are games by Kojima that you know that are worth your money.
Itachi4019 Kojima is an amazing storyteller. Solid Snake is my #1 followed by Link. Some interesting news is creator of RE1-4, Shinji Mikami is working on a fresh survival/horror game right now codenamed, "Zwei" The Japanese developers feel there's no room for the survival/horror genre amongst the shooter giants like CoD. But lets just hope the man who helped put survival/horror on the map can look beyond just making easy money and create a game with substance.
Resident Evil franchise since the mid 2000s lives an identity crisis. With RE Outbreak it was obvious that they were experimenting with many new things: missions based game, online/offline co-op game-play, real time inventory management, collectibles etc. With RE 4 Capcom sacrifized their pure survival horror principles, for the sake of a more modern game and they created a horror themed shooter. And gamers loved it, because it was something new. RE 5 was the last acceptable game, exactly because it was an evolution of RE 4. But the last couple of years I notice that the new RE titles (I say notice because I have not much played them) are controversial, to say the least. Maybe Capcom went too far this time. People loved RE games for a reason, for the tactical game-play, the fun of killing zombies, and the challenge to stay alive with limited resources. From what I understand this isn't the case anymore. Now we have a game that is a little bit of everything, and for that without identity.
WTF? A resident evil game got less than 9, dat too a numbered title.
Despite its poor execution, it has managed to sell millions of copies! The question is: Will Capcom continue their development formula for Resident Evil 7 for financial gain OR will they listen to gamer feedback and produce a title that fans of the series want? I hope for the latter.
CivilizedPsycho so quick question, did you enjoy re6 or not?
corteztheg
Not really, it's worth a rent, but it has little replay value. It's more of a movie than a game. The numerous quick time events get very annoying, especially when the button prompts take up most of the screen, so after you kill one zombie, there is another one right next to you, but you couldn't see it becuase of the huge bright button prompts.
RE is supposed to be a macabre horror survival game, not this over the top flashy FPS wannabe, that's why it sucks. The RE name advertises it as one thing, then you get something completely different. I've seen enough FPS action BS and it all sucks. The older RE games there was also a lot of strategy involved conserving ammo for tough boss fights or certain areas of the RE games there were extremely difficult to progress. Or certain areas you just skipped altogether because the resources required to get throw them were not worth the cost of life & ammo. Point an shoot is not a strategy.
cigg more like older re games controls were extremely broken that strategy was more like trial and error. this reviewer can go eat a bag of d!@k$.
cigg here's a word from another user who read the review rather than watched it named papaquito--
"Even with RE6's flaws, is it accurate to say that this game is only as good as the Iron Man 2 games and provides a far lesser gaming experience than other highly anticipated failures like Ninja Gaiden 3 and Alone In The Dark? I don't think so. While it may not have lived up to the standards that we built in our own heads, to honestly say that this game is worth only two more points than Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust is a bunch of malarky."
The Co-Op w/ AI is the worst! If I wanted to play Gears of War I'd go play Gears of War, I guess someone on the RE design team has a tiny china chubbie for GoW and decided to make Gears of Evil. RE 4 was the best, RE 5 was a piece an RE 6 is the other half of that piece. RE7 go back to RE4 mechanics, how many games did we have to suffer bad mechanics only to have one good RE with killer play mechanics then see them immediately thrown out the window. I loved all the previous ones before RE4 but lets face it the targetting scheme & combo system of 4 set the bar. Make Co-Op optional, AI Co-Op is BS handicap at best & ruins the game at worst.
I guess it just depends on what some one really likes, i have played for 77 hours also and love this new idea of RE. But really its opinion, Dishonored got a 9.0, i played that game for 2 hours and just thought it was garbage....
As much as I hate to admit it this review is off. I've put over 80+ hours with coop buddies and such.
sydneyviles ¿ you sir, need a life
bubba_1988
Why? because I've played 80+? how much time do you spend playing games or watching tv? keep in mind this is from its release date.

You are seriously insane if you give this game anything under a 6. Judging by your video, you seriously must suck at the game, you were unlucky and encountered lots of bugs, or you just let your disappointment in the series get in the way of your review. Lets face it, the resident evil series was never that scary to begin with. Maybe when we were all ten years old. Ive played through every Resident Evil game including the spin off ones and I really enjoyed "6" as a resident evil game. The game is nothing but a improved version of the previous ones. Yeah, chris' story sucked and its not that fun fighting enemies with guns; although once you learn the cover system and how to use the doging appropriately, the game feels amazing and is a ton of fun. There's a ton of content as well and I found myself coming back to play it again and again, unlike resident evil 5 which just felt like a clone of resident evil 4. I believe resident evil 6 deserves anything from a 7 to an 8.5. If your a resident evil fan and am contemplating whether or not you want to buy it, then buy it. You wont be disappointed.
cmg1693 the only thing i agreed with you on was chris story sucked and there is actually a ton of content. i think if every resident evil fan bought this, there would be more dissapointments than not by far. RE 6 seems to me like they tried to copy nearly everything from metal gear solid. except, metal gear solid is much, much better. i would give this game a 5 out of 10.
Rented this game first to see for myself. 4.5 is for broken games and RE6 is far from broken. VanOrd is just being a psycho nerd giving this such a low rating. Must be some pent up fan boy rage. Leave that shit at home, dude- and review game honestly. That's your fucking job.

If it wasn't a "Resident Evil" title, it may have scored higher. But as a long-running series, the expectations are high. I've played it, the production value are great, but the annoyances are many. I would give it a 6.
Loved Resident Evil 6- easy and fun and enjoyed the journey- if you play very slowly and examine all the great graphics and soundtrack- it is a fantastic game- One doesnt have to work too hard and that is good for all us retired female players- dont believe all the negative reviews- you will see that it is a great journey!
i've heard great things about ths game so still going to get it despite the score besides games i like forward to gs will rate low and i'll enjoy anyway when all is said and done
leon's campaign so far has been pretty scary, and i'm playing with a friend split screen! especially the part in the metro/subway tunnels, that scared the crap out of me...
lol, this is why i dont usually pay attention to reviewers.4.5... FOUR POINT FIVE????alright the game has aload of problems, he was right about the cheap deaths and that annoyed the crap out of me,
but 4 interlocking campaignes throughout a decent lengh game is worth a 7 on its on.theres no bugs that i've found and i find the combat fun, plus it can fully be played with a friend (apart from ada)i admit leons story starts off soooo slow... but by chris' its pretty fast paced.i dont think this is better then re5 but its imo an 7.5 game
thank god this game sucked so hard, hope they stop making any more parts
I want Shinji Mikami back in RE 6 development team!
they gave re6 a lower rating then kane and lynch got wtf kane and lynch was so full of bugs you could not even finish the game and it got a 6.0 wtf
let me remind you this is the same man that gave metal gear solid 4 a 10 out of 10 i love mgs4 but the game had close to no gameplay at all along with that it had clunky controls crap cover system .Cutscenes longer then some tv shows it aloso had load screens every few min and 15 min load times and that game got a 10 out of 10 lol again i love mgs but wow this dude has no idea at all how to do a reviwe imo resident evil 6 is alot smoother then both resident evil 5 and metal gear solid 4 this dude must of had a bad day to give this game a low score like this
emptycow
oh come on... " i love mgs4 but the game had close to no gameplay at all ". he didn't cite cutscenes and sequence buttons in video games as a detraction, he criticized how they were employed in this game - there's a big difference. in some games (heavy rain, mgs4, etc.) it works phenomenally well, in others it results in an unmitigated disaster.
above all else, this is the worst atrocity to ever befall the re franchise. gone are tension, a sense of impending doom, and overall atmosphere, replaced instead with hollywood action scenes and flashy production. the survival horror genre is pretty much dead.
Giygas07 emptycow holy shit you're right...mgs 4 had so many cutscenes, and then he bashes on this game for having too many?? weird...but i guess GS already said that they rate sequels based on how they improved themselves from the game before it, and it's not really that different from RE 5 save a few minor mechanics. i'm diggin the story though, definitely much better than RE 5 story...
wizardboyus emptycow i don't think you read my comment properly...
wizardboyus Giygas07 re6 plays way smoother then re5 fact
Giygas07 re5 was a clunky mess just from the demo of re6 alone i can see that re6 plays way better then re5
emptycow Giygas07 Personally the last RE game that I remember being smooth was RE 3. I never liked that "over the shoulder" view of RE 4; it's like covering one third of the screen. lol And the movement feels slow and unresponsive.
emptycow MGS 4 is a masterpiece, the extra long cut scenes are extr, it helps you get into the story even more, MGS 4 is about the story mainly. RE's story does not compare to MGS. please refrain from trying to bring down a game thats amazing just to justify how bad another was.
Personally, I will be playing through all 4 campaigns just to see all the crazy enemies and cutscenes. My experience so far (currently into my second campaign) has been somewhat underwhelming. The game has MANY annoying little issues that add up to cause major frustration. The camera often behaves horribly and leads to many 'cheap' deaths. The quick-time events are too numerous and sometimes blatantly unfair, forcing trial-and-error retries. The controls and menus are surprisingly sluggish for a game so focused on action. Some locations are ridiculously dark, which would be fine if you could always use your flashlight... but you can't. Finally, the story becomes so convoluted that you won't know (or care) why seemingly important things happen.
So far, I would rate it a 6 out of 10.
