He made his fans go weak at their knees when he stripped off for his role in Magic Mike.

With his chiseled cheekbones and impeccable body it's no wonder that Channing Tatum has taken the 2012 title of Sexiest Man Alive.

The 32-year-old actor who dethroned Bradley Cooper beat the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Matt Bomer and Denzel Washington for the prestigious label.

And the winner is... Channing Tatum has been give the title of 2012's Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine

Pleased with his latest accolade, speaking to People who gave him the honor Channing simply couldn't believe his luck.

He said: 'My first thought was, "Y'all are messing with me", and revealed that even his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum couldn't believe he had received the title that Brad Pitt once owned.

The Dear John actor continued: 'I told Jenna after we'd been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they'd gotten skunked.

'She was like, "What?", he then quipped that he could understand why it came as such a shock to her but added that now she only refers to him by his name.

Happy with the magazine's choice, on Wednesday Jenna tweeted: 'Well obviously I agree! Good job @peoplemag! Congrats to my humble,loving,talented and yes- SEXY- love @channingtatum!!'

Opening up to the publication, Tatum spoke about his desire to become a father, saying: 'I'm ready; I think she's ready.

With a number in mind for his brood, he added: 'The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we'll see where we go after that.

'It’s really easy for us guys to say, "I want like 15 kids",' but understanding that his wife will not be impressed with a two-figure number he joked: 'Jenna will be like, "Well you better get another wife!"'

Alongside his People magazine award, GQ have also placed Channing on a pedestal.

The Step Up actor was listed in the popular men's magazine Men of the Year awards and bagged the gong for Movie Star of the Year.

Proud of her other half's achievements, on Tuesday evening Jenna attended the GQ Men Of The Year party at Chateau Marmont in support of her husband's achievement.

Taking to her Twitter account, the 31-year-old wrote: 'So proud of my love, he's GQ's man of the year!! So deserved!!'

All about personal taste I suppose, the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing - but he just doesn't do much for me I'm afraid. He's certainly not unattractive, just hasn't got that special something that would make me think - wow! Antonio Banderas, on the other hand! - well maybe 10-15 years ago anyway!

IMHO in person or on celluloid what makes anyone sexy is the ability to project "intense desire" leaving the object of that desire in no doubt that they will be conquered as soon as the situation allows or is engineered. If the actor is a strong alpha male it's a done deal. Bubblz , ..........Oooh, er, missus. Bubblz, your description of what makes someone sexy as made me feel rather hot and bothered, don't necessarily agree with all your list of suspects, but defo agree with your analogy.
