The seven sides of Gwyneth Paltrow: Max Factor create different looks to reflect actress's life starting with 'the writer'

She's an actress, author, wife, mother and lifestyle guru so like most busy women, Gwyneth Paltrow needs a make-up look to fit all her different roles.

At home running around after her two children, Apple, eight, and Moses, six, that might be just mascara and blusher, while for a film premiere, it might be a striking statement look.

Now for a campaign for Max Factor, the actress's life has inspired seven different make-up styles that women can copy at home.

The first is as 'the writer' - inspired by Gwyneth's work as founder and contributor to her lifestyle website Goop and as the author of a cookbook released last year.

For this persona, she has simple eyeliner, mascara and a hint of blusher for a natural day-to-day style that's quick and easy to apply. In the shoot for the campaign, she complemented her make-up with a casual look or white tuxedo jacket and jeans.

Gwyneth explained the look behind 'the writer'. She said: 'The writer persona is me going into town for a lunch or into London for a meeting or going to a friend's house for dinner. Or me when I'm most myself, doing something creative, having a look that says, confidence, creativity but still very much who I am.'

The 40-year-old added that she keeps make-up to a minimum when she's at home but that it plays a great part in her professional life.

She said: 'I have a funny relationship with make-up, in my own life I wear very little of it. It's huge part of my professional life and I have been getting it done since I was 18 for films and attending premieres. It's been important for the professional aspects of my life.

'As I'm getting older I'm trying to experiment with make up more myself and use it more myself around the house. My make-up routine is very simple. I'm big into mascara and blusher and that's about as far as I get when I'm running around at home.'

However, Gwyneth said her work with Max Factor has inspired to try and make more of an effect with her own make-up regime.

'It's been interesting doing the shoot and I'm starting to pay attention more to what the make-up artists do and how I can do it in my own life,' she said. 'I think maybe I can try this trick at home - maybe I can be a bit more brave and try a red lipstick or something.'

Max Factor said they choose Gwyneth for the campaign because of her 'natural beauty, but also her chameleon style and ability to carry off diverse and arresting glamour statements'.

They added: 'With many different roles to play in her everyday life, Gywneth epitomises the modern day multi-tasking woman. She was the perfect person to inspire the Max Factor network to create stunning looks, which will in turn act as inspiration for women everywhere to find their own personal glamour statements.'

Esi Eggleston Bracey, vice president, Max Factor Cosmetics added: 'This campaign is a real celebration of Max Factor make-up artistry and we’re hoping it will act as inspiration for other women to find the glamour statements that are right for them.'

The writer is the first look that is being advertised via print and TV adverts and others will be released over the coming months.

What is it about her that I loathe so much? What ever it is, it never seems to go away.

find all of her 'advice' quite annoying! Personality-wise she comes off as a sweet person, but she seems to live deep in West La La Land. At home running around you put on mascara and blusher? More like fight to have time put on a clean pair of sweatpants and manage to brush your teeth with children hanging from your legs! - Bean , Springfield, United States, 15/11/2012 02:42 lol dont have so many kids then if you cant handle them. i love how women always complain about how hard it is to raise children. it's your choice so dont whine about it.

Smug, boring and talentless - just like her husband. Did they do a makeup that showed her with those qualities?

She's annoying, but she is also beautiful.

Since when did writing recipes make you an author?

Ha ha - all they needed was an eyeliner with which to write SMUG across her forehead.

Photo shopping is getting out of hand. Why don't they just create a composite of the perfect looking women and just use it over and over again.. Photo shopping is everywhere I don't even by gardening magazines anymore because they photo shop the plants and place plants over plants it is ridiculous.
