Smile for mommy! Besotted Hilary Duff can't take her eyes off baby Luca as she takes him on a playdate

She is a known to be a doting mother.

And Hilary Duff only had eyes for her baby son as the pair arrived at a soft play centre for a playdate with friends on Wednesday.

Wearing a long grey cardigan with a dark grey scarf and a pair of black leggings, the Cheaper by the Dozen actress looked ready to get stuck in with Luca and his pals.

With her hair up in a messy bun and her face free of makeup, actress-turned-singer Hilary toted baby Luca on one hip and an enormous yellow tote bag on her shoulder.

But the Disney star had taken the time to add a trendy studded cuff and a pair of edgy black booties to her otherwise sloppy outfit.

Despite Luca's scowl and the fact that he still seemed to be in pyjamas, Hilary was beaming and fresh-faced as the pair walked into the Los Angeles venue.

25-year-old Duff could not resist showing off her son with NHL-player Mike Comrie to her friends and fans earlier this week.

The Lizzie McGuire star posted a photo of her 8-month-old Luca, crawling on the floor: 'My love,' she wrote.

But Hilary admitted to People magazine that she has found motherhood a struggle at times: 'The first week I was like, ‘I’m doing this, I’m good. I can not sleep, I can do this,' she said. 'Then it hits you — the fatigue.'

Baby Luca recently started crawling, according to his proud mother’s Twitter page.

'Btw I officially have a crawling baby!! It’s cray cray!!! That maniac is allll over… grabby and demanding as hell annnnnnd WE LOVE him!!!' she wrote on.

The former Lizzie McGuire star is preparing to return to TV in a new comedy as she recently signed a development deal with 20th Century Fox.

Her sloppy outfit? She looks warm to me, and comfortable. She's carrying around her baby boy, what was she supposed to wear? Six-inch stilettos and cut-off Daisy Dukes in November? Give me a break. Hilary looks easygoing and relaxed with her little boy. Not to mention, gorgeous.

Beautiful child. She certainly doesn't have a problem smiling for the photographer in the second picture which confirms my belief that she/her publicist are keeping the photogs abreast of her whearabouts so they can sell these pictures - thus keeping her "in the spotlight". Because otherwise she's a stay-at-home mother who hasn't worked in about 10 years and who only the DM seems to care about.
