Heating up! Taylor Swift and Harry Styles spotted flirting backstage at X Factor as they fuel romance rumours

Move over Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, there might be a new pop star couple in town.

Taylor Swift and Harry Styles are getting closer every minute, as insiders saw them canoodling backstage at the US X Factor.

The show's co-host Mario Lopez confirmed he saw the pair 'walking hand-in-hand', which no doubt will breaks hearts amongst many of Harry's teenage followers.

Mario told listeners of his 104.3 MY FM radio show on Friday night: 'Taylor Swift was the special guest performer, and [here's] a little inside scoop for you.

'During rehearsals, Harry from One Direction came and slapped me on the back, and said, "Hey, Mario, how ya doing?" And I said, "What are you doing here?" And he sort of [pointed] toward Taylor.'

Mario said he later saw them 'walking off hand in hand. So Taylor Swift and Harry from One Direction - you heard it here first. [They're] officially hanging out, I can say that much.'

Adding even more fuel to the 'are they, aren't they' confusion, the One Direction heartthrob reportedly picked up the blonde star, threw her over his shoulder and took her backstage following her rehearsal on the talent show.

The two pop stars were both scheduled to appear on the show and ran into each other backstage during rehearsals on Thursday, which turned into a flirt fest, according to sources.

The official US X Factor Twitter page picked up on the romantic vibe, tweeting: 'Together in the lunch line (Cheeseburgers) laughing & smiling was @Harry_Styles & @taylorswift13! :) #internationalpoproyalty.'

Another source told E! News: 'Harry is there with her now. She is doing rehearsals this afternoon. And he is in her group.'

'He watched her onstage going through her performance. He was sitting with her mom and the rest of her entourage.'

The eyewitness continued: 'After she finished, he went up to the stage. They were joking and laughing. He picked her up and threw her over his shoulder and carried her off.'

The pair were said to have dated earlier in the year, before Taylor hooked up with Conor Kennedy.

According to RadarOnline, Harry and Taylor couldn't make it work out then as the blonde starlet was left 'heartbroken' after pictures emerged of the heartthrob locking lips with another mystery girl.

'Taylor really liked Harry and even though they weren’t exclusive, he hinted at making it official with her just before he took off to Australia,' a source said at the time.

'He even told Taylor he didn’t want her to see anybody else while he was gone!'

The British boyband member already has a reputation of being somewhat of a ladies man with a penchant for older women, after being linked to Caroline Flack and Lucy Horobin.

Meanwhile Taylor seems the be unlucky in love, after a string of failed high-profile relationships including Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer, Joe Jonas, Cory Monteith and Taylor Lautner.

She only recently broke up with 18-year-old Conor Kennedy, after flaunting their young love in Cape Cod over the summer.

Hmm so according to the DM over the last week Taylor is supposedly getting back with Conor, starting a fling with Ed Sheeran and is now part of an 'are they aren't they' with Harry Styles.... Maybe you should pick one DM and just stick with it......

It's kind of funny that taylor swift is seen as some innocent saint and shes dated half of Hollywood. and people like rihanna get called all sorts of things and she's only dated like 3 people- rosie, london LOL how do you know she's only dated 3 guys? Thats the amount the MEDIA have recognized but we don't really know for sure.

Really? I don't believe any 1D "possible" relationships these days, because a simple friendship is construed as a romance, often times. I'm not in love with Harry as many Directioners are, but I appreciate him as a nice young guy who has talent, is extremely polite with his fans, and is part of a boyband which actually is pretty good. I'm a eighteen-year-old pre-med college student, not a fifteen-year-old fangirl. However, I see Taylor Swift as a whiny immature singer with an inability to act like her age demands. Harry deserves FAR, FAR better than Swift. If they ARE together, or will be together, good lord, the Harry fangirls will be heartbroken, and rightly so, because a guy like Harry Styles deserves someone better than Taylor Swift. He's genuinely nice, talented, and mature. Please no, let this be a stupid rumor like 99% of celeb news.
