And there is a pronounced regional split in where the new jobs are being created with almost half new roles, or 101,000, coming in London.

War hero Tony, 90, can’t get his £10,000 life savings because the building society thinks his signature's too shaky
Tony Howard knows what it is like to lose his freedom. In 1940, during World War II, he was on board a navy vessel sunk by a German warship in the Atlantic. He then spent five years as a prisoner of war. Today, as a 90-year-old, with his health failing, but his mind still sharp, he considers keeping control of his finances a matter of dignity.
It sounds great but can your card REALLY get you 6% cashback?
Shoppers are being offered up to 6 per cent cashback for simply spending on plastic. Card companies are locked in a war over perks as they try to sign up new customers. But these cash rewards can be loaded with tricks such as introductory offers, a ceiling on how much you can earn and stringent terms and conditions.
Is the 'triple lock' state pension guarantee affordable? We'll only know if economic forecasts dramatically improve
You should be wary of planning your retirement savings around the government's pledge to raise state pensions by 2.5 per cent every year - even in recession years. Andrew Oxlade explains why.
You can't always get what you want: Rolling Stones tickets resold for £2,500
Special pre-sale tickets to the Rolling Stones gigs in London are already being re-sold for double the price – an average of £2,500 for a standing ticket. Their sellers are unlikely to have bought them with any intention of actually going and instead wanted to turn a quick profit from touting them to desperate fans.
Plans to allow drivers to buy a tax disc without showing their insurance certificate are 'absurd' warns AA
Under the proposals unveiled by the Government today, existing databases with details of drivers’ insurance will be used to check that drivers have insurance instead of the certificates. But the motorist association warned the step would lead to a sharp increase in the number of people driving without cover, deliberately or through oversight.
Could your council save you £300 on your energy bills? Innovative community 'bulk-buying' scheme aims to slash bills as price hikes bite
Almost 1,700 homes have signed up for the South Lakeland - where the Lake District, pictured, is located - 'Power Up Your Community' scheme, which will use collective bargaining power to drive down bills. The Cumbrian council says that households in the region could save between £50 and £300 by using the scheme.
OPINION: Starbucks position on UK tax has the stench of hypocrisy

Birmingham is the UK's whiplash capital: City has 55% of the worst districts for making claims (and the most claims management companies...)
The lowest number of claims, meanwhile, was seen in districts in Scotland, including Inverness, the Hebrides and Inverness. The increase in claims comes despite police statistics showing a fall in road accident injuries, the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries showed.

'I paid £21k for a wood and love to relax there after work': Why interest in woodland ownership has never been higher
Small areas of woodland are suddenly soaring in value as people like John Webb (pictured) buy them to relax in nature and give their children space to play outdoors. The nation’s woodlands are heavily protected, so owners can’t erect buildings or permanent structures. But you are allowed to sleep on your land. ...read
