A heartbroken woman has been arrested for vandalizing a Florida courthouse with graffiti of broken hearts and pleas for her husband to return to her.

Police say Audrey Dostie, 35, is in the midst of a bitter divorce in Jacksonville, Florida, from the owner of a prominent home building company.

Her husband has also taken out a restraining order against her, alleging that she was physically abusive.

Courthouse staff arrived on Friday morning to find the new $350million building covered in purple spray paint, WJXT-TV reports.

Police say Dostie painted broken hearts across the sidewalk and the pillars of the courthouse.

She also spelled out messages to her husband and to the judge handling the divorce case.

'Free us!' one message read.

Acrimonious: The divorce apparently turned bitter, driving Dostie to lay her heart bare by public graffiti. She was prevented from contacting her husband because of the protective order against her

She also vandalized the offices of her husband's family-owned company, Dostie Homes.

'I (heart) u,' she wrote on the sidewalk outside.

She also painted messages to her son and her husband.

A patrolling officer caught Dostie in the act with a can of spray paint at the courthouse and arrested her.

She was charged with criminal mischief. Police say she is being held for a mental health evaluation, WJXT reports.

He obviously traded her-in for a new, saner version. The Judge should make her scrub off the grafitti, take her mind off of her estranged husband. - Frank , Detroit - Michigan - USA, 18/11/2012 18:31 he is probably trading in for a newer model but how would you like to be thrown away like a piece of trash if your wife decided to trade up , i bet you to would get mad too but like many husbands would attack the wife instead of a bit of grafitti . see both sexes can make assumptions and we could both be right or could both be wrong - mylife somewhere, liverpool, 18/11/2012 15:35 My wife cannot possibly trade-up any higher. BTW, I am helping and supporting her while she recovers from brain cancer surgery. So far, so good.

They say "All's fair in love and war", but it sounds like this mess started with one and is ending with the other. It sounds like one state of mindlessness is taking place in another.

She hates the new courthouse as much as the rest of us here in Jacksonville.

I'm going to guess she went bat nut crazy when she found out he'd been having an affair. She probably beat the tar out of him when she found out and threatened to kill his new girlfriend and then he got the restraining order. I haven't heard her side of the story yet. But then again, maybe she's just crazy and he wanted out.

From the looks of this crazy-ass stunt, I'd say he's right but I doubt a restraining order will have much effect.
