Pulling off The Impossible: Smiling Naomi Watts looks every inch the Hollywood superstar in daring gown at film premiere

She's currently playing the lead role in a biopic of Lady Diana Spencer, so it was unsurispring to see Naomi Watts pull off a gentle Royal wave as she walked the red carpet on Monday night.

However, it was more surprising to see acres of flesh revealed by the subtle movement of her arm as the actress pulled off one of her most daring fashion choices to date.

Australian Naomi was at the UK premiere of her new film The Impossible at the IMAX cinema in London when her bold dress made itself known.

Hovering at around the knee, the black gown had long billowing sleeves, and despite a high neckline, a daring cut that left much of her flanks and all of her back exposed.

However, the 44-year old blonde kept the look classy by ensuring there was not an inch of side-boob in sight.

Naomi wore her soft blonde hair in a chic chignon, and kept her mak-up natural which allowed her dress to do the talking for her as she strode along the red carpet, posing for photos and meeting fans.

Her feet are also sure to be the envy of many women, too, as she wore a pair of this season's Tom Ford creations.

The patent leather stilettos have a gold tip on the heel, and two ankle straps that are adorned with a golden padlock.

In the film, Naomi plays the role of Maria who becomes separated from her husband and two of her children when they are caught up in the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

The film follows the two family units as they battle diversity to be reunited, each other them unaware of the other's fate, and witness to much tragedy and devastation on the way.

The story is based on the experiences of Maria Belon, who survived the natural disaster.

Ewan McGregor, who plays Naomi's on screen husband Henry, was also on the red carpet.

He stayed true to his Scottish roots in a suit with a tartan pattern, and kept warm in a grey scarf.

The couple's on screen children, played by Tom Holland, Samuel Joslin and Oaklee Pendergast were also there, as was Maria's son, Lucas.

The Impossible is released in the UK on January 1st 2013.

What's with these tight trousers? Tell somebody they're fashionable and they will wear them never mind the lack of comfort and the fact that they make your feet look enormous! Men's fashion has really hit an all-time low.

Ewan McGregor is quite possibly the best looking Hollywood Actor. Just my opinion. Why hasn't he been named People's Sexiest Man alive? Hubba Hubba ! I hope he signs up for a lot more movies just so that I can stare at him more often, :-)
