Bad day for the beach! Courteney Cox and daughter Coco vacation in Miami... but end up trading drizzly Los Angeles for more wet weather

Courteney Cox looked like she was having a soothing time despite the unpredictable skies this weekend.

The Cougar Town star was spotted lounging on the sand in gorgeous Miami Beach keeping an eye on her adorable little girl Coco when the rain drops started falling.

But Courteney, 48, took it all in stride and laughingly moved fast to cover up her cell phone and iPad and take care of her drenched daughter at the same time.

The newly single actress flew out of Los Angeles on Saturday with her little travel companion no doubt hoping to escape the dreary weather, but unfortunately the Florida forecast predicts rain all week long.

That being said, Courteney seemed relaxed and glad to be away from the grind of the show and in the tropical zone.

Courteney, who met up with one of her sisters and other friends, was spotted leaning back in her lounge chair, chatting away happily and enjoying the 80-degree temperatures.

The stunning star fiddled with her Apple iPad but always had an eye on Coco was certainly having a wonderful time frolicking in the ocean.

Courteney hid her fabulous body in a casual purple and grey striped top and skinny black trousers, while the straps of her bikini top peeked out from underneath the layers.

Ever age-conscious now that she's approaching 50, Courteney stayed mostly under the large umbrella propped in the sand and covered her eyes with dark sunglasses.

So relaxed: Courteney seemed to be really enjoying herself; she was seen having a nice chat with a pal while the sun was still shining

The sun tried to come out a few times and Courteney could be seen soaking it up, even in all those layers of clothing.

But the moisture in those grey clouds proved too much and started wringing out big drops of rain that fell on Courteney's nice set-up in the sand.

Coco came bounding up the sand in her little pink floral bikini and they both laughed as Courteney tried to dry her off with towels.

It was time to go and Courteney was seen gathering up her things and heading back to their hotel after what appeared to be a wonderful day enjoyed by all.

That was fun: Courteney and Coco were seen heading back to their hotel when the rain started coming down

Courteney's pre-Thanksgiving vacation seems long overdue after an especially tough year.

The Scream star ended her nearly 11-year marriage to Coco's father, actor David Arquette, in 2010, and admitted in February that it's just started to sink in.

'It's hard. I probably caught up to this whole situation later than he did,' Courteney told talk show host Anderson Cooper of the fallout from the break-up.

'And, I am really happy for him and he's got a girlfriend [Entertainment Tonight presenter Christina McLarty].

'Everything's great, I know it seems so weird, it's even weird for me to say that.'

Courteney has found comfort in friends and family, and it was only Monday that the actress was spotted enjoying a casual lunch in Los Angeles with her handsome Cougar Town co-star, Brian Van Holt.
